Building upon the growing success of their cycling shoe line, Bontrager has just announced a new model of Men’s road riding shoe called the Velocis. With a wide selection of road shoes ranging from $80-400, the Velocis fits roughly in the middle of Bontrager’s lineup as a price-competitive model with some nice features.
The Velocis was designed to provide the main things roadies generally desire in a shoe- light weight, a stiff sole and good ventilation. It also features a Boa system IP1 dial for quick and easy fit adjustments with no loose laces dangling around. Step below the break for more photos and details…
The Velocis shoe uses Bontrager’s InForm Pro Last fit technology to provide an ergonomic, high-performance fit. The shoe is built upon Bontrager’s Silver Series carbon/fibreglass composite sole, which has a stiffness index of 10 (out of 14) to ensure efficient power transfer to your pedals. Like all of Bontrager’s shoes (and other brands as well), The Velocis can be upgraded with their inForm heat-moldable footbeds to achieve a comfortable custom fit.
Above the sole, the Velocis is constructed from synthetic uppers with reinforced toe and heel areas. They employ the Boa closure dial for the main lacing, a Velcro strap for a snug fit around the ball of your foot, and plenty of vents. The shoe features Lightning Mesh panels on both sides around your arches, a ventilated tongue and top vents in the toe box to keep the air flowing and your feet from getting swampy.
The Velocis shoe is available in black, white, or pink/black online and at Trek dealers nationwide. Sizes and color choices vary a bit- In black the shoe comes in regular or wide US sizes from 7-14.5, the white version comes in regular sizes from 7-14.5 and the pink/black is available from sizes 4-14. The Velocis shoe’s MSRP is $219.99 USD, but individual dealer pricing may vary.
