In typical dramatic fashion, Mario Cipollini has unveiled his latest work, the NK1K aero road bike.
The basics: It’s a monocoque frame that’s available in an impressive seven sizes. Medium frames weigh in at a claimed 1,120g with rim brakes, and 1,150g for the disc brake frame. It’s built around a BB386 bottom bracket and the latest brake mounts. To do it justice, we’ll start with the video (which looped endlessly in their booth!), then dive into photos and details…
This Orange Fluo colorway is a stock option, but the Fluxos wheels are not. The rim and disc brake frames are separate items, one frame isn’t designed to accommodate both.
The headtube is designed to use separate headset cover plates to offer two different heights:
The covers bolt into place so they’re secure, and then the stem and any additional spacers are pressed into it like normal to keep the bearings tight.
The rim brake bikes use direct mount and take advantage of Campagnolo’s new calipers to keep the show builds Italian. The top offering will be with Campagnolo SuperRecord EPS (or Dura-Ace Di2, if you want) and Bora Ultra 50 tubular wheels.
The disc brake frame uses Flat Mounts and will be sold as a frameset only at launch.
The seatpost has 0mm and 18mm offset options, both with micro adjust saddle mounting bolts. It’s own clamping bolt and cover plate is flush mounted on the top tube.
The frame uses an “integrated aerodynamic shape” that flows the downtube into the stays, and the seat tube around the rear tire.
