We’ve illustrated cutaways before, but nothing beats video for understanding how shock damping systems work. This one, from Fox, shows how their DPS (Dual Piston System) diverts oil flow through various ports and shim stacks to control the compression and rebound rates.

I have one of these shocks and they are very good and simple to tune to an acceptable setting. I am a fiddler and I was completely happy with my settings in 3 rides. A record.

Glad I decided on this shock and not a CCDB Inline.

Makes you understand why a top-grade shock costs that much and how much R&D is involved in its development. Pretty amazing.

For 2016 Fox has finally gotten their game together. I’m impress, especially with their new X2 shock.
