No one enjoys locking their bike up, so if you have to do it, you might as well do it in style. With the new Bordo Centium from Abus though, that style also includes details to make the lock easier than ever to store and use. And if a premium lock isn’t enough to suit your high-end wants, Abus has a matching Centium helmet to go along with it…

Starting with the original Bordo as a base, the Centium kicks things up a notch with an updated key cylinder with a one piece stainless steel lock body. The update to the Abus Plus key cylinder provides literally thousands the additional keys so the chance of somebody having the same key as your lock is extremely slim. In addition to the leather-look wraps on all of the lock links, the Centium includes a new side mount lock holster with stainless steel hardware. The side mount makes it much easier to get the lock in and out, especially in small frames. Offering a security rating of 12, the Bordo Centium will sell for $149.99 and is delivered in a fancy wooden case.

As part of the Centium package, Abus will be offering a premium version of their Hyban helmet as well. Created with unique brushed aluminum look finish, the helmet also includes a detachable leather visor and all of the features of the standard Hyban including an integrated rear light. The Hyban Centium has a price tag of $119.99.

The lock looks great (I’m curious about the “non-premium” model) but that’s some mighty wasteful, and probably expensive, packaging.
