Q36R Fox 36 fork quick release adapter kits for 15mm and 20mm thru axles

The Flow Zone’s Q36R debuted in February and we gave it a quick test this summer as a way to make wheel and tire swaps a quicker, tool-free affair.

Now, they’ve made the adapter kit slimmer, making the axle and quick release levers sit closer to the fork’s body. And they’ve dipped a limited amount of the new design into the orange ano bath, matching it to Fox’s 2016 graphics. The kit fits 2015 and 2016 Fox 36 forks and works with both their 15mm and 20mm axles. Besides making trailside repairs a bit easier, it also means you don’t have to whip out the tool to put the bike on a fork-mount roof rack.

More pics and a look at the original design below…

Above and top are the new, slimmer design and limited edition orange colorway. Below, the original:

Notice how much closer to the fork leg the lever sits in the top image. The parts are the same weight as the originals, but the preload lever sits 4-5mm closer to the leg, and the QR levers on the bottom tuck up closer, too. The changes not only make it look better, but also keep it further from rock strikes, etc.

The orange version retails for $109 while supplies last (only 12 available as of this post going live), and the black ones go for $89.

It would be funny if over time, someone releases a “lightweight” version of this quick release consisting of a torx bolt set and tool.

Why everybody keep that tag on the Shimano rotor is just beyond me 😐 …..and my OCD

One of my friends keeps it because he likes the finger tip flying away image.

@tsuful, because it’s a pain trying to peel it off. I peel off one side and the other just stays on. I’m like wth…..

Haha. Happy to know I am not the only one who visually has a hard time with those tags.

Any review is automatically bumped down a few notches in the legitimacy dept. if the writer can’t be bothered to remove all the packaging materials from his bike.

I would rather see that rather using a QR for the pinch bolts, use small spacers that won’t let the dropout clamp onto the axle and the axle would thread into the opposite side dropout and work just like any other QR type thru axle fork.

I ordered one of these when I got my 2016 Fox 36 a while back . I was shocked at the weight of the little burlap bag it comes in.
The hardware is very good quality for sure. But it weighs so much. I made the only decision that made sense to me. I sent it back. A couple of hex wrenches are not that inconvenient. I think I have removed my front wheel 2 times in a year.

@JBikes- Ya I would like to see more integration of parts and trail side tools. Don’t forget the thru axle multi-tools called Match Stix from Industry Nine

What’s old is new again… this type of thru-axle and clamp dropout setup is the Paul Turner designed & patented Tullio system as used on the RockShox Psylo forks FOURTEEN YEARS AGO !!!

@DeeEight: You know that Ethan F owns FZS and is the parts guy for Maverick, right? Maverick’s owner was PT and they also used the Tullio QR system on the SC/DUC32, it doesn’t surprise me he designed this for the F36.
