First it was Jens, and now Spartacus. Even the most legendary hard men of the sport have to retire at some point. After announcing that he’s likely to retire at the end of the 2016 season, it looks like this will be his last Tour de France.

Naturally, Trek wanted to flex their Project One muscle and create a special paint job to commemorate Fabian’s racing career. For those who want to be the next Spartacus, or just like the finish, the option is now available for consumers through Project One…

Dreamt up by Trek graphic designer Brian Lindstrom, the Race Shop Limited paint scheme was hand painted to highlight Fabian’s 16 year career. Little touches on the frame all point to some achievement along the way whether it’s 29 days in the yellow jersey or 7 stage wins for the Tour de France.

Consumers will be able to order the final Spartacus color way on either the Madone or the Domane for an extra $1000 over the stock paint.

I love when they do special paints for riders. I dislike when I see most of those on the road on the usual club ride.

How dare someone be a fan of a rider or team! Heck maybe they just like the paint san rider or team.

I believe the designers name is actually Brian Lindstrom. He is the art director at Trek.

2003 called; it wants its font back. Seriously the “Spartacus” on the seat tube is such an after thought on a pretty cool bike.

Not my favorite – I loved the Spartan themed rides they did for him earlier with the helmets and swords.

I agree on the club ride thing… it is tricky to find a balance. I might wear/ride a ‘club ride’ version of a Pro tour kit or bike that didn’t look like I snagged it from the laundry. I’m way to slow to wear a replica Sky / Trek / (random favorite) kit. I’ll occasionally pick up a cycling cap in team colors – I still have a Banesto one from Big Mig’s days

Its a cool paint job….for Cancellara….not for someone on their club ride. He earned that bike, no one else did.

Still regret not getting a USPS emblemed Trek.
