As Bombtrack tends to do, they’ve prepared a trailer for an upcoming documentary that’ll showcase their athletes using the brand’s bikes to do wonderful things. In this edit, Clement Stawicki rides the upcoming Beyond Plus unsupported (but with a teammate) through the Tuscany Trail. That event helped them put 560km and 11,000 feet of elevation gain on the bike, which seems like a pretty good test.
The Beyond Plus is a new 27.5+ capable version of the 700c/29er Beyond adventure bike that launched last year. It’s looking like it’ll keep the steel frame, just opening things up to fit the wider tires. There are a couple other changes we spotted, too…
The frame is designed to fit all manner of frame bags, and the steel fork keeps the thru axle and bottle cage/rack mounts.
Out back, the “Plus” version appears to get new dropouts, which add a thru axle but lose the rack mounts. These could be pre-production made specifically for this race, but with the popularity of larger saddle bags, it could be intentional and headed for stores, too. Official details should be coming in soon, and the bike will make it’s formal debut in September.
