Via LondonCycleChic: The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is sponsoring a cycling tour from London to Paris (with a train trip back to London) this spring to raise money to help promote environmentally responsible trade practices in the fashion industry. The video above has clips from last years’ ride and music that will make you want to join in the fun this summer. Maybe you could tie it in to your Tour de France trip…

Combine your love of fashion and feel for adventure by making a 300-mile bicycle journey between two of Europe’s iconic style capitals – London and Paris – to promote a fairer future for the fashion industry.

Deadly pesticides like Endosulfan, continue to poison people and planet and remain a serious health hazard for those working in the fields and EJF are working to end this and other environmental and social abuses.

The charity bike ride challenge takes place again in July 2010 and is raising awareness and essential funds for the Environmental Justice Foundation’s environmental and human rights work.

In fashion, EJF works to address the fact that around the world, whether it is state enforced, or child trafficking, millions of children face severe exploitation in the cotton industry. EJF also campaigns for a global ban on the most toxic pesticides, used in cotton production, which in total kill over 20,000 people a year.

ABOUT The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF):

EJF is a registered charity established in 2000 to empower people who suffer most from environmental abuses to find peaceful ways of preventing them.

EJF provides film and advocacy training to individuals and grassroots organisations in the global south, enabling them to document, expose and create long term solutions to environmental abuses.

EJF campaigns internationally to raise awareness of the issues our grassroots partners are working to solve locally.

Today EJF has a team of campaigners and film-makers based in London, and works internationally with partners in Brazil, Vietnam, Mali, Sierra Leone, Uzbekistan, Mauritius and Indonesia.
