What’s better than an ORP Smart Horn? A Remorp to remotely control your ORP, of course. Blending the functionality of a commuter light plus a nice horn and an angry horn, the ORP is a fun little handlebar mounted gadget that could make your commute a little bit safer. Safer still, is not having to remove your hands from the bars to use it…

REMORP CUTAWAY PROCESS 010514-REMORP-DIAGRAMATIC-8

Compatible with any ORP Smart Horn out in the wild or on store shelves, the Remorp is a simple wired remote that allows you to control the horn without moving your hands. Normally an upward press on the ORP’s tail makes a pleasant 76dB chirp, and a downward press results in an angrier 96dB blast to let that car know they were way too close. With the Remorp you have the same abilities, just with a short press on the remote for friendly chirp or a long press for angry. Remorps plug directly into the ORP and then attach anywhere on the bike with a built in silicone strap. ORP smart horns sell for $65 a piece while the Remorps sell for $15, though they are currently available for a special price of $9.99.

Another brand distributed in the U.S. by Torcano Industries is PureFit Nutrition bars. These have actually been around since 2001, but PureFit Founder and avid cyclist Robb Dorf is making a renewed push as he feels the time is right. Already voted the top energy bar in past competitions, PureFit bars contain 18g of protein in a 100% non-GMO, Vegan, naturally sweetened, and Gluten Free bar. Oh, they don’t melt and they taste great. During trade shows we usually don’t have enough time to sit down and eat so I used the opportunity to sample every flavor as a replacement for lunch. Made with a soft, pliable consistency, PureFit bars don’t have any of the chalky, protein heavy texture a lot of similar products do and they taste exactly like what’s on the label. You will need some water to wash them down, but you should be drinking water anyways with that much protein. You can pick up any of the seven flavors including new Peanut Butter Toffee Crunch for $2.49 each at your local bike shop or a case of 15 from PureFit starting at $37.35.

Wow. That cable run on the horn is brutal. I imagine that the cable could be routed under the bar wrap for at least a small section of the handle bar…

Yeah, why did they make the cable so long? A smaller profile and short cable would be perfect for tucking it under the handlebar tape. Not to mention the strap going across the hood like that might pose comfort issues for the hand. I really like the idea of a remote like this, but they should have taken tips from the TRP DI2 Prototype design.

Not loud enough

Cheesus guys. It’s a flat cable and it has to work for multiple bars and bikes so a super short cable is a no go. Yes, ideally it is mounted under the bar tape and its flat profile makes it nice to do so.The big deal is you can put dual stage horn actuation under thumb wherever you want it. It’s use is super intuitive.

Agreed, like the horn idea but I rarely mount mine because it is not loud enough.
