As proponents of another way of looking at things Gevenalle has just introduced a new range of machined brake pad holders to pimp your rim brakes. The anodized aluminum shoes come with hardware for cantilever/mini-v or road brakes (including an option for ti canti hardware) and a selection of standard road size brake pads from Kool-Stop, all offered in 8 pretty anodized colors.

The machined aluminum shoes are anodized in Gevenalle’s Portland, OR hometown in: Red, Grey, Gold, Green, Pink, Purple, Blue, and Orange. Their standard stainless steel hardware is supplied by Kool-Stop along with the American-made pads. Gevenalle also sources the ti hardware domestically from a US machine shop that hollows out the bolts and trims down the caps to shave a little weight. The shoes come standard with Kool-Stop Salmon brake pads, but triple compound and road or cross specific carbon pads are also available (with a price bump for the carbon-specific pads.)
Gevenalle quoted us pricing per pair (for one wheel) but is selling them direct from their online shop by the complete set (4 shoes for a single bike setup) so those complete prices will be: $40-60 for the Stainless Road sets or Stainless Cross sets, and $100-120 for the Titanium Cross sets.
Update: Real final pricing for the shoes with stainless hardware sets be $24 per pair (per one wheel) and thus $48 per complete set of 4 ($34/68 for carbon pads.) Gevenalle had some e-commerce complications so got ordering capabilities up now on their site for the discount when you by the full bike set, but this likely won’t last too long. If you need just one pair for one wheel in the meantime, reach out to them and they’ll sell you just 2 for the regular $24/34 price .
Weights per pair (including shoes, pads and hardware for one wheel) are claimed to be 32g for a Road pair, 39g for a Cross pair, and 30g for a Ti Cross pair. All options appear to be available now directly from their website or from local bike shops in select cities.
