They call it Deja Vu. We call it one bike with two personalities depending on spec. The bike is called the Honzo Carbon, and regardless of whether it comes with the “Race” or “Trail”, it gets Boost spacing and a 120mm fork.

Built for North Shore riding as much as World Cup XC courses, the new Honzo Carbon sheds 600g off the alloy version’s weight and gets modern trail geometry to tackle the aggressive descending on today’s trails. Stealth dropper routing means it can be equipped for even steeper descents if you want, but short chainstays help it climb upwards as well.

The official release is July 17, along with more of Kona’s 2017 models, but they’ve put together a little video shred session and spec lists below…

  1. That is one very interesting bike. As a XC racer i never liked the short steep and twitchy geometry of most xc racing machine and never felt it made me faster.

    • Yep! Still want a reasonably priced carbon single speed that is actually designed around 120 for geometry. Clutches and 1x are great for the market, but I simply do not need gears on any trail that I ride.

  2. Should have kept a SS option. That was half the reason this frame has a following. The Geo is the other half for sure, but an SS Trail DL model would have made a huge impact.

  3. Looks fun. I hope this bike gets lots of play. Aggressive hardtail trail 29er’s are great in carbon. (Love my Canfield EPO.) I’m glad to see that Kona has finally jumped in.
