Scott Contessa Genius gets the same frame as the boys, but women's touch points & tune

The 2018 Scott Genius introduced a bunch of new features for the venerable platform. Moving to a dual wheel size frame, the Genius can run either 29 x 2.4-2.6″ or 27.5 x 2.5, 2.6, or 2.8″ with the flip of a chip and the same fork. The frame also moved to a trunion mounted shock that kept the TwinLoc system which adjust the geometry and suspension tune of both the front and rear suspension with a single lever. Changes were also made to the geometry with a slacker head tube angle, steeper seat tube angle, and shorter chainstays.

Now, those same changes are being made to the Contessa Genius as well. Abandoning custom geometry for their women’s bike, the Contessa Genius gains the exact same frame as the men’s Genius, though there are still a number of touches that make it unique…

Starting with the cockpit, the Contessa’s set up is almost completely different with shorter stems (40mm for S/M, 50mm for L), narrower bars at 740mm, and smaller diameter grips with a softer feel. The saddle is different as well with a women’s saddle that has a different shape and padding, though it still sits on the same Fox Transfer dropper post operated by the TwinLoc remote.

Speaking of fox, the rear shock includes a lighter compression tune for the ladies – or for lighter riders in general. You’ll also find a smaller chainring on the 1x builds with the Contessa Genius running 30t rings.

Available in three models, the Contessa Genius sits at the top with a carbon mainframe, aluminum swingarm, and SRAM Eagle GX drivetrain. The 720 and 730 models drop to a full aluminum frame with the 720 sticking with SRAM GX Eagle and the 730 running a 2×10 Shimano drivetrain. All three models run 27.5 x 2.8″ tires and include the TwinLoc system for front and rear suspension.

I’m thinking more that the bikes should be unisex with “light and skinny” and “thick and meaty” tune options.
But, you know, with better names than that.

Don’t sell yourself short Greg, “thick and meaty” has a great ring to it.
And ebikes can be called “old and busted”

Thin and twiggy? As a twiggy person myself, I think this makes a lot of sense. I’m looking into “women’s” bikes for my next one, just to get the lighter shock tunes.

Wow, it’s available without disgusting ‘girly’ colours. Most of the ‘womens specific’ bikes have colour schemes that make my wife gag.

Twinlock doesn’t change geometry in any way, do your homework before posting…

Effectively changes head angle.

Is it possible to have the tune on the shock changed? There is a really good deal on one of these on pinkbike and I am wondering if I could have the suspension tuned to match the unisex model?
