Introduced in alloy with a carbon version following in 2014, the all-new Devinci Spartan mountain bike gets three years of in-the-field race testing to become a longer travel enduro race warrior. Travel increases from 160mm to 165mm in the rear, paired with a massive 170mm fork up front. It keeps the 27.5″ wheel size and Split Pivot suspension design, but the rear end is made stiffer thanks to a revised layout that claims better climbability. The suspension gets a new rocker arm design that drives the shock vertically rather than horizontally, and geometry is adjustable. And it gets lighter…

The original version drove the shock directly forward, this new model uses a larger rocker arm and places the shock up and down. Desite all of the additional frame sections and reinforcements, the new version is actually 310 lighter. It loses 150g from the main frame, and 160g thanks to the shorter carbon chainstays.

Expected upgrades include Boost axle spacing front and rear. Some extras that make it special are 170mm dropper seatpost compatibility on all but the Small frame size, and a Kevlar reinforced bash plate on the downtube that doubles as a Di2 battery cover. Or, as they put it, a great place to hide your stash. There’s also dual density protection wrapped around the chain and seat stay on the driveside. Another bonus? All frame sizes fit a full 24oz water bottle inside the front triangle.

Up front is an adjustable geometry headset On the seatstay linkage is their FRG flip-chip geometry adjustment system that lets you change the head angle from 65º to 65.4º, which has the effect of raising the BB from 337mm to 342.5mm with only 1-2mm change in wheelbase depending on frame size. The bike comes set in Low mode by default.

It’s designed for 1x drivetrains only, fitting up to a 36-tooth chainring. Behind that is an ISCG mount. Tire clearance is 27.5 x 2.6. The suspension is built around Metric shock sizing and is coil-over shock compatible.

Six complete bikes will be offered, full prices and specs on their website.
