Early last year, Fyxation introduced their new ‘all-road’ fork, the Sparta. The relatively inexpensive carbon fork offered ample tire clearance and a number of features that made it a pretty interesting option – especially if you were looking for something with mounts to carry a bit more gear.
Not only is the fork back in stock, but Fyxation has also added a few key updates to make the fork compatible with even more bikes. For starters, the fork is available in a 1.125-1.5″ tapered steerer in addition to the original 1 1/8″ straight steerer. Currently both steerers are aluminum while the fork legs are carbon, though we’re told that a full carbon option is on the way.
Based on rider feedback, the fork has moved to internal cable routing with the front brake hose entering at the left shoulder of the crown and exiting midway down the inside of the left leg.
The front brake is still a flat mount with the ability to run a 140mm rotor.
The fork also still gives you the option of switching from 12 to 15mm thru axles, but there’s the new option of a bolt on or a quick release thru axle. Obviously, the bolt on axle is a bit lighter, but the QR gives you the option of removing the wheel without tools.
Built with clearance for 700c x 42mm or 650b x 50mm tires without fenders, the fork has mounts for full coverage fenders which drops the clearance to 700c x 40mm. On the outside of each leg is an additional bottle or bag mount which are compatible with the Blackburn Outpost Cargo Cage.
Pricing and availability
Running 747g with an uncut steerer tube, the forks run $299 with your choice of steerer and axle. The forks are also available now, though we’re told that they sell out quickly as soon as Fyxation has them in stock.
