The latest installment in the Salsa EXP bag line is here. The newest EXP Series Framepacks come in two flavors to specifically fit various Salsa bikes, though they’ll likely work on other bikes depending on the size. Whatever the reason, framepacks can be a very useful piece of kit – especially if they’re built properly.

Using the same cut and sewn construction method with welded zippers as their previous bags, the resulting bag is considered “weather resistant”. That’s not completely waterproof, but the 500D nylon with TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) lamination and PU (polyurethane) coating, 1000D polyester fabric with dual sided TPU lamination, and #10 YKK weather resistant zippers make it pretty close.

Instead of a direct mount application, the Salsa bags employ a number of hook and loop straps along with a top tube sleeve that includes an extra draw cord for stashing small items.

You’ll find large zippers on both sides of the bag with an internal hook and loop divider to help organize your gear. An exit port at the top tube is perfect for hydration hoses or light wires, and the non-driveside pocket is flat for stashing items like maps, phones, and other similar sized pieces of gear.

Divided into the EXP HT for hardtails and FAT, for well, fat bikes, the two framepacks join the current EXP framepack specifically for the Salsa Cutthroat. Depending on the bag, there are many sizes to match up with the different bikes and frame sizes, so make sure you get the right bag for your bike.

Available now, both bags retail for $149 and are sold through your local Salsa dealer.

Just you, I have been waiting for this frame bag for over a year now. the old bad that they had dont fit the 2017 and 2018 frames well (2017 was a major redesign year for many of Salsa’s bikes)
