Colleen Gulik & Pickle Juice are working to bridge cycling’s Gender Gap – The Pickle Juice Company, who make one of the most unique & all-natural sport drinks on the planet – pickle powered Pickle Juice – are again supporting the all-female Pickle Juice Pro Cycling Team. And this year they’ve expanded support with a cycling mentorship program for junior women. Led by 39x national title holder, international UCI track medalist Colleen Gulick, they are showing how increased awareness, team sponsorships & mentorship programs are helping move the needle for female athletes. The team is working to improve the gender pay gap & access to resources in cycling, and inspiring the next generation of top women athletes. PicklePower.com

Mountain Bike Advocacy

  • US Forest Service awards volunteers $264,000 for MTB trails with IMBA – This year’s IMBA National Forest System Trail Stewardship Partnership Grant Program grants have been announced. And 23 of the 42 awardees are projects that will enhance mountain bike trails in our National Forests. IMBA worked with the US Forest Service for the second year in a row on the grant program, nearly doubling the grants vs. 2017. The 23 projects with mountain bike components will receive $264,000 before grant matches, including Boulder’s Magnolia Trails, Chequamegon’s Rock Lake Trail, the Tetons’ Phillips Ridge trails, GA’s Bull & Jake Mountain trails, multiple trails in MT, and Tucson’s Canada Del Oro trail. How to Train Better

  • Xert’s new one-click Adaptive Planner adjust our training plan to reality – Last winter Baron Biosystems launched their Adaptive Training Advisor & Smart Workouts that helped users create power training activities truly tailored to them at the click of a button from their workout library. Now for cyclists who need to not only change their training on the go, but forecast how to work training into their real life schedules, Xert is back again adding Adaptive Planning software to their member services. Like a real-life coach, the Adaptive Planner optimizes an athlete’s training to catch up after missed workouts, plan around your real schedule getting tailored workout, and even work regular commutes & friendly group rides into your training plan. BaronBiosys.com

Gear News

  • Knog goes outdoor with Bandicoot headlamp – Knog is expanding a bit into the outdoor sector (beyond the PWR concept they created that was on & off the bike) with a new Bandicoot headlamp. It’s a unique, low-profile USB-rechargeable silicone headlamp weighing just 49g. Not much use on the bike, but could be a good crossover for bikepacking camping, running, hiking, climbing, etc. Find it & pre-order where else… on Kickstarter. Knog.com.au

Contests

  • Buy a Transition and look for your Golden Ticket – Transition is calling their Golden Ticket promotion “The Contest of All Contests”. Transition Bike’s annual company trip will take place this summer at the world famous Retallack Lodge in B.C. And they want to bring a couple of happy customers to join them. Two tickets are being randomly sent out with bikes for US & Canadian customers. Check out the full details at TransitionBikes.com

Hot deals!

  • Cantitoe Road is closing out Clément tires to make way for Donnelly – We all should know by now that the folks who had been making Clement tires for the last few years have rebranded as Donnelly last year. Most all of the same tires have carried over with the new brand, but there is still a good bit of unsold stock floating around with Clément on the sidewalls. Online retailer Cantitoe Road is the latest to say they are closing out the remaining Clement-branded tires to make way for Donnelly stock. See if they have a good price for you. CantitoeRoad.com
