Wilier has an all-new top-tier aero road bike, dubbed the Filante SLR. Wilier Triestina calls the new bike the “natural evolution” of the Cento10 PRO raced by the pros of team Astana & Direct Energie on the World Tour, now giving them a lighter weight & stiffer all-rounder in the skin of an aerodynamic race bike.

Only just back in August a new, more affordable Cento10 SL was launched from 2700€ complete, then September saw a new light 0 SL from 4200€ complete, but now Wilier Triestina has gone back to the absolute top of their line with the all-new pro-level Filante SLR that unseats the top-tier Cento10 Pro.

What’s new in the more aerodynamic, aero road bike?

The new top of the range carbon road racing bike was developed for maximum aero efficiency with re-optimized airfoil tube shapes that drop sharp rear edges for better performance in variable wind conditions.

Much of the front end is also reshaped with more space inside the fork to reduce the impact of spinning wheel turbulence on fork, and then frame drag.

Without sharp Kamm tail edges, less extra resin & fiber was needed to achieve their target stiffness levels.

Balanced road racing geometry

Wilier says the new Filante SLR was developed to carry on the same racing character as the Cento10 before it, with geometry mostly unchanged. Available in a six size range (XS-XXL), the bikes get size-specific tubing & stiffness to deliver the same ride feel no matter what size bike you end up on.

Thanks to the revised shaping and Wilier’s top-tier carbon construction, using hi-mod fibers and “crystal liquid polymers”, the Filante SLR frame’s claimed weight comes down to 870g, plus 360g for the new fork (both claims with matte black base paint only.)

That puts the Filante SLR just 100g heavier than Wilier’s superlight climber 0 SLR.

The same SLR fiber gets used for the new one-piece monocoque Filante bar & stem, shedding grams to 350g (101x420mm) and boosting cockpit stiffness by a noticeable 12.5%. (It also sells for a whopping 900€, separately.)

Like the Cento10 & 0, the new bike again is built around completely internal cable routing, with a tapered 1.125″ – 1.5″ steerer tube that routes cables into the headtube through the oversized Wilier headset. Split headset spacers allow small adjustments in fit after initial setup without messing with cable routing.

It is only compatible with hydraulic disc brakes and electronic shifting.

The Wilier Filante SLR also features a proprietary aero carbon seatpost held in place by a wedge-type clamp in the toptube, but Wilier offers it in both 0mm & 15mm offset to dial in the ideal rider fit. The frame also uses a PressFit BB86 bottom bracket, and a braze-on front derailleur.

The new bike uses flat mount disc brakes (140 or 160mm rotors) and 12mm thru-axles, now with room for up to 30mm tires – 28mm tires are spec’d as standard.

The Wilier Filante SLR also opts for Mavic Speed Release axles, for fast wheel changes in the pro peloton without needing to pull the entire axle out – an apparent 7 second savings in the heat of the race.
