The new Greyp T5 trekking hardtail eSUV combines a powerful e-bike powertrain with a unique combination of integrated technology far beyond anything we’re used to seeing in the cycling industry.

This includes always-on (free!) T-Mobile wireless mobile telecom connectivity, hi-def front & rear cameras, built-in lighting, and full smartphone integration that lets you use your phone to manage all of its advanced functions.

When Greyp first debuted their mobile connectivity & video tech-equipped G6 eMTB, we were intrigued with the “always connected” concept. Coming from electric automotive roots -Greyp is an offshoot of Croatian e-supercar maker Rimac– their e-bike concept hopes to provide a new crop of riders with a connected, mobile-focused experience familiar to contemporary everyday life.

Greyp says they’re targeting the new T5 trekking e-SUV towards e-bike newcomers than the original G6. A lot of that goes to keeping costs down with a hardtail vs full suspension. The result is a more simple, streamlined e-bike from the outside, even if the connected tech is still all there.

Whether a gadget-heavy e-bike is up your alley or not, there’s a lot of interesting things going on inside this Grey T5 trekker worth taking a look at, because all of the connected tech is like a window into our e-bike future…

Connected Tech Details

Greyp says the T5 has “Unlimited Connectivity”, which comes down to an onboard eSIM card that delivers constant connection via 3G service provided by T-Mobile (free through 2025) and a deeply integrated Greyp smartphon app with two modes: Dashboard & Remote.

In Dashboard mode, your phone becomes the e-bike’s display (secured in place with an integrated universal phone mount) giving access to features like turn-by-turn navigation, terrain-based range calculations, and the always-recording forward & rear facing 1080p wide-angle cameras.

In Remote mode, you have access to many of the same features using your phone as a remote bike controller, plus you can text, take a photo with the built-in cameras to see where it is, remotely lock the bike, or activate a kill switch to completely disable it.

The T5 also has its own core e-bike system display, so you don’t need to plug in your phone. There’s also a USB port to charge your devices off the bike’s main battery.
