Bianchi’s 750g superlight carbon Specialissima road bike is getting a special Giro105 limited edition, celebrating the upcoming 105th edition of the Italian Grand Tour in a subtle white and pink look inspired by sunsets in the Dolomites. Just 105 of the lightweight disc brake climber’s bikes will be made available ahead of the 2022 Giro d’Italia so you might snatch one up quick if you want to build up a unique Italian superbike.

Updated even lighter just last fall in its move to disc brakes, Bianchi’s new Specialissima packs their NASA-developed vibration-damping Countervail tech into a lightweight climber’s bike with pro race level stiffness and precision handling -what they call their most versatile all-rounder road racing bike.

Now, to honor more than a century of Giro d’Italia racing, the Specialissima gets a limited Giro105 edition with a paint job to reflect the “great beauty” of Italy. 105 bikes for 105 years of the Giro, each frameset will be handpainted in Italy and individually numbered 001-150 on the toptube.

The paint job feels pleasantly subdued when we think of other Giro pink special editions. Bianchi started with a neutral Bianco Corsa white representing the color of the finish line and rider’s names scrawled on the iconic Alpine climbs in chalk.

Then, the natural Enrosadira pink comes inspired by the color of the skies in the Dolomites at dawn or dusk, with the bike’s paint also changing from gold to pink as perspectives and the light around you shift.

Lastly, the fork legs get a ribbon design based on the Trofeo senza Fine (Endless Trophy) awarded to the Giro champion.

Going to say it but weird groupset choice. There is literally a groupset named exactly for this.

Agree. Options to go with the “other” groupsets like Campagnolo, would have been appropriate.

I’d imagine the groupset choice is a function of the Bike Exchange team running Shimano. As an aside, looks like bike exchange is switching to Giant.

I was actually being a bit facetious and referring to Shimano 105 which is the alpha of all groupsets. Dude rocks up to a Cat 1 road race with Shimano 105 and Time Atac mtb pedals, a pair of casual sunglasses and you know he’s going to shred some people’s legs.

That last bit’s hilarious. I’m also seeing a sun-faded jersey from some long defunct club team.
