Mondraker has announced its 2023 lineup of Downhill, Super Enduro, Enduro, Trail and eBikes with no fewer than 68 new models to choose from. The vast majority of those see basic component and colorway updates, but there are two nuggets of newsworthiness buried within that stack. The Mondraker Raze is now available in two new aluminum models, improving affordability of their 130mm Trail Bike by over € 2,000. And, the Spanish brand has added the Chrono DC (Downcountry) Hardtail into the mix with a 120mm fork and a 68.5° head angle. Here’s a brief introduction.

For 2023, Mondraker is adding two aluminum models of the Raze 130mm Trail Bike; the Raze R and the Raze. The two are very similar to the Carbon Raze that debuted last year with Mondraker’s own on-board MIND Telemetry System. These new aluminum models won’t be benefiting from the integrated suspension setup tool, but they do feature a very similar geometry.

The Raze was intended to blend the uphill pedal efficiency of the F-Podium XC Bike with the downhill capabilities of the Foxy Enduro Bike. It combines 29″ wheels with the generous reach figures of Mondraker’s Forward Geometry principles and 130mm of rear wheel travel delivered by their Zero Suspension linkage wherein two links work to compress a floating shock from both ends. This is said to make the rear suspension extremely supple on small bumps and big hit-capable.

Like the carbon models, the Raze Alloy models get a 150mm travel fork sat at a 65.5° head angle. Reach is 5mm shorter across the S-XL size range, coming in at 470mm on the Medium. The stack height is a little higher, too, at 623mm on the Medium thanks to a 10mm taller headtube. Seat tube lengths remain short at 415mm on the Medium, with an effective seat angle of 77° across all sizes. Chainstay length is identical at 435mm.

The new aluminum models bring the starting price of the Mondraker Raze down to € 3,999 ($4,399 USD), over € 3,000 cheaper than the least expensive carbon model. That money fetches you a Fox DPS Performance shock, a RockShox 35 Gold fork, a SRAM SX Eagle 12-Speed Drivetrain, 30mm internal width aluminum rims on Formula hubs, and SRAM Level T 2-Piston Brakes.

2023 Mondraker Raze R Alloy
The 2023 Mondraker Raze R Alloy retails at € 5,199 ($5,699 USD); this one comes in Matte Cherry Red / Nimbus Grey only

The most you can spend on a Mondraker Raze Alloy is € 5,199 ($5,699 USD). That cash affords you a Fox Float DPS Performance Shock, Fox 36 Rythm fork with GRIP damper, Mavic Crossmax SL Wheels on Infinity Hubs, a SRAM NX Eagle Drivetrain and SRAM G2 4-Piston Brakes.

The new Mondraker Chrono DC is an aluminum hardtail mountain bike based on the Chrono XC Bike but with a 120mm travel fork and 29″ x 2.4″ tires. Mondraker reckons the additional fork travel pushes the Chrono into the Downcountry category, slackening off the bike to a 68.5° head angle.

The Chrono DC launches with two models; the Chrono DC R and the Chrono DC, retailing at € 2,399 ($2,599 USD) and € 1,999 ($2,199 USD), respectively. Both are kitted out with a a 25mm internal width rim aluminum wheelset with Maxxis Ardent 29″ x 2.4″ tires, a SRAM SX Eagle Drivetrain, SRAM Level 2-Piston Calipers and an Onoff Pija Dropper Seat Post. The more affordable Chrono DC sports a RockShox Judy Silver fork while the higher-end Chrono DC R runs a Fox 32 Rythm fork with the GRIP Damper.

Nice bikes even if very pricey ! Unfortunately, it is quite a shame that such a company is not able to assemble front discs in a proper way on all the bikes. Hopefully this is only on web pictures and not on real bikes ? Is there anything else assembled the wrong way on the bikes ? 🙂
