The second generation FHAIN from 8bar is maybe their most cherished bike. The simply light and stiff aluminum fixed-gear frameset is one of their best sellers and delivers a lot of bang for your buck (or rather bang for your Euro.) It also routinely gets built in to city riding and commuting fixies, just as much as it gets turned into proper fixed-gear crit racers that take on the burgeoning international race scene. Now in honor of their amateur race team started last year, a limited 8bar Rookies edition of the Fhain v2 is available to everyone who wants to stand out on a first come, first served basis in the team razzle dazzle paint job…

Ready to take on fixed-gear racing or just your single speed commute, the Fhain is a simple alloy track bike that also gets a drilled seatstay bridge and fork for the option to run a set of brakes. Like all other 8bar bikes, the dazzling Rookie Fhain v2 can be built to suit with their Design-Your-Bike web bike builder tool.

The Fhain v2 frame itself is double-butted 6061 using aero airplane tubing shapes throughout. The 1600g frame (medium) pairs with a 550g aero carbon fork with a straight 1.125″ steerer. The frameset retails for 508€, while this team build should cost about 1350€.

These shots are of a sample team build with 8bar’s new GIGA house component group for a race-ready ride. As it sits this one weighs in at 7.2kg/15.8lb. That build uses an 8bar house alloy Giga stem, seatpost, crankset, road drop bar, 1700g 32-spoke alloy wheels; then adds in a custom topped 8bar x Selle San Marco Concor saddle, VP-R73 pedals, and Continental Grand Prix 4000S tires.

Besides buying the bike itself, if the idea of a racing fixed or single speed as part of a worldwide-spread grassroots team, sounds up your alley(cat), then check out the 8bar Rookies team page. By committing to racing and representing 8bar when you do, you can unlock rookie team membership, and the special deals that come with it. And that is probably the only way to get ahold of the matching black/white/flamingo/mint kit as well

I am really digging the paint and colours, but PLEASE, it’s not Dazzle. It’s an even geometric graphic, that’s it. By design, Dazzle is uneven and highly disruptive in its patterns….
