It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since we first laid eyes on the Crombie Tool from Abbey Bike Tools. Taking something that nearly every bike mechanic was already familiar with, Abbey found a way to elevate the cassette tool into a must-have for the traveling race mechanic (other mechanics quickly caught on as well).
The Crombie tool was just the start though, and in the past 10 years Abbey Bike Tools have introduced insanely precise versions of many bike shop standard tools. Abbey is also no stranger to offering tools in custom presentation boxes – like the new 10th Anniversary Tool Kit.
Packed in an heirloom-quality walnut box that’s made in St. Paul, Minnesota, the box features a custom Abbey Bike Tools logo engraved on the lid, and a plaque inside with the 10th Anniversary Logo.
What’s in the Box?
Tools, obviously. But these are special tools – like the 10th Anniversary HAG (Hanger Alignment Gauge). Instead of the typical laser engraving, the tool gets machined flutes and logo on the aluminum handle for a bit of extra grip. The HAG is already one of the best derailleur hanger alignment tools on the market, and this just takes it to the next level (did we mention it’s titanium?)
The Crombie tool and the chain Whip also get the titanium treatment with a satin bead blast finish. The move to titanium results in a 344 gram reduction of weight, or about 36% less compared to the standard tools from Abbey. As usual, these tools are made in-house in Bend, Oregon.
You can purchase the 10th Anniversary Kit in two ways, either a 2-piece or 3-piece kit, with the 2-piece limited to just 50 kits, and the 3-piece will be limited to 100 kits. Both are available for pre-order now, with estimated shipping of Dec. 15th, 2022.
