Adidas x Colnago x Size? collaboration continues w/ Limited Colnago Master frame

You’ve seen the shoes, now it’s time to check out the bike! As noted in the last post, in a three way collaboration, size?, Adidas, and Colnago have teamed up to launch two new shoes with modern interpretation of the Timm Star and Kamanda. But Colnago has also added their take one of their classics with a bit of Adidas flair.

While the sneaker crowd will love the two new footwear options, bicycle freaks have their own hardware to lust over. The special edition Colnago Master frame features the classic steel tubing and Precisa fork, while the paint is adorned with the classic trefoil Adidas log, and a ‘?’ on the back of the seat tube in honor of footwear retailer size?.

The framesets will be limited to just 105 pieces, while pricing and availability is TBA.

Shoes are disposable. I’d rather see Colnago bring back the team colors that made the Master famous. Del Tongo, Mapei, Lampre, Casino, Panaria. Especially the fork painted to match era of the mid-late 90’s

I think its high time Colnago updated the Master frameset to stainless steel.

Its one of those things that have kept nostalgic folks from buying one to ride or just for old times keepsake.

LOF’nL!! 😀 The lack of stainless isn’t keeping people from buying them! You’d only know that if you had access to Colnago’s sales numbers. Are you the accountant at the HQ in Cambiago? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you probably aren’t.

Whatever made you come to such a conclusion ?

Its in the context of more people buying it. So tell me, you have a problem with that ?

I bought a classic Master X-lite. I wouldn’t have bought a stainless version – chrome details on steel is what the Master is about and changing that only undermines the element of true classic in the frame. Make a stainless bike as a new model, sure. But it won’t be a real Master X-lite.

I know, some people don’t like change … though it’s not a negative in the case of a true classic and a good brand recognises when it has something of that value. TBH even a Adidas logo on this bike makes me gag.

Maxx, assuming that more people would buy a Master if it were made of stainless is just fairly whimsical speculation. The Master is one of the most successful steel bikes of a generation, an icon. The Italian brands are quite keen on keeping their historical bikes as is. De Rosa won’t change the Nuovo, Wilier won’t change the Superleggara, Masi won’t change the Gran Criterium, Ciocc won’t change the San Cristobal, Battaglin won’t change the Marosticana, Guerciotti won’t change the Record, etc, etc… You really want a killer Italian made stainless steel race frame?… then get a Stelbel XcR.

Aj, the chrome detailing isn’t what the Master “is about”. The Master is all about the diamond shaped Gilco tubing that Ernesto co-designed with Columbus. Guiseppe Saronni wanted a stiffer frame than the Super he was riding, so the Master was born.
