Interview with Earth Treks Climbing Gym founder Chris Warner

“The business isn’t about you. It’s about your team. And your customers … What can you give people that moves them forward?”

Chris Warner has led people to some of the biggest, toughest summits in the world, and now he uses those experiences to motivate and inspire top performers to do better, build better leaders and form better teams. He’s also building one of the biggest (literally and physically) indoor climbing gym chains in North America. But he started out working for pocket change to keep his van running from climbing spot to climbing spot. Whether you own a gym or a bike shop, he drops a lot of killer tips on leading your team to success. And the rescue stories at the beginning are worth the listen all on their own!

For complete show notes, timestamps and links to Chris’ videos, book and a free leadership workbook download, check out the full post on The Build Cycle! There’s also some pretty amazing photos of his gyms and mountain summits!

Tyler, I really enjoy your podcast. On this one, however, the audio was a bit of a problem. I had a lot of trouble hearing Chris even when I turned the volume up so high that it caused some hissing. I’m usually not picky about this sort of thing, just when it actually affects my comprehension of this interview. Again, I really like the podcast and my intention behind this comment is to be constructive rather than internet-y complaining. I get that it’s a balance between spending time worrying about things like audio quality and actually getting the podcast out there, but this is an instance, IMO, where it could have benefited from a little more audio clarity. Keep up the good work!
