Cane Creek rounds out the longer travel overhaul of their suspension seatpost family with a new 90mm travel, trail-taming Thudbuster LT post. While dropper posts have become the norm for almost all technical trail riding, the proven parallelogram Thudbuster has been taking the edge off for hardtail riders even longer.

Much like the recent short travel Thudbuster ST, this new Thudbuster LT gets similar updates. Between a simplified head design and more easily interchangeable elastomers for a range of rider weights, it is also likely to find life smoothing out bumps on loads of new e-bikes.

The new suspension post gets 18% longer travel up to 90mm, which also brings with it a 30% weight gain up to 750g (31.6). The new Thudbuster LT & its linkages are now entirely forged alloy, pivoting on user-serviceable hard-anodized axles & PTFE bushings.

With that comes the 1-bolt head simplicity, and new tool-free interchangeable elastomers (with that gold lever locking them in place). The new LT design uses a single, one-piece elastomer to control its travel, and includes just the standard Medium when you buy the post (rated for riders 150-200lb/65-90kg). Extra Soft, Soft, Firm & Extra Firm elastomers are available separately for an extra $16 each, for riders up to 250lb/113kg.

The revamped Thudbuster LT is the longest travel suspensions seatpost that Cane Creek has ever made and sells for $180 (four bucks more than the previous generation.) An optional $18 neoprene ThudGlove soft cover is also available to keep mud out if your linkages. The new 5mm offset post is available in three size: 27.2mm x 390mm, 30.9mm x 420mm & 31.6mm x 420mm. Get it now direct from Cane Creek or through your local bike shop.

Cool. I wish Cane Creek would make a dropper post with the Thudbuster ST head.

Agreed IzzyM. From the reviews the PNW suspension dropper is good at big hits but not so much for smaller vibration, another option for gravel bikes would be great.

Izzy, you’re looking for a 3 month old reverb 😉 lol

I remember the LT form first showed up in the mid-90s with a company named Moxey. The elastomer was red back then.

I’m far too lazy to pull out my seatpost and regrease it every so often. Carbon bitte!

Have to disagree on “1-bolt head simplicity”. I’ve found 2-bolt seatpost heads to be much easier to use, especially for fine adjustments of saddle tilt.

How do you compress a relatively small piece of elastomer a full ninety millimeters?

The elastomer gets kinda squeezed/deformed between the pivots, so 90mm of travel doesn’t require 90mm of compression of the elastomer.
Think of it as something similar to a FS bike’s suspension ratio. 100mm of wheel motion, doesn’t require 100mm of shock compression.

Also- remember that the hardness of elastomers changes drastically with temperature.
