The new Giro Aether MIPS is already a pretty unique helmet, but it’s about to stand out even more. Starting today, as of right now, you can design your own fully custom Aether MIPS as part of Giro’s new ‘Tuesday 25’ program. Each week, the first 25 riders to submit their designs to Giro, after 12am Pacific time, will get their custom helmets created with pricing starting at $400. Each week will be limited to just 25 riders and the helmets will be produced and shipped directly to the rider within 4-6 weeks.

The helmets will include custom packaging with what looks to be a custom helmet pod to keep your pricey lid safe when traveling.

Riders will be able to customize almost every color option on the helmet from individual panels with solid colors, fades, or patterns.

You’ll also be able to choose the color of the graphics, Fit system, straps, and more. Giro says there’s something like 805 million possible combinations so the chances of showing up to your favorite group ride with the same helmet as someone else are pretty slim.

Go wild, or keep it mild, whatever your preference, you can make it happen. The custom Aether helmets will be available exclusively from Giro.com or from five retail partners including R&A Cycles, BicycleHaus, Palo Alto Bicycles, Contender Bicycles, and River City Bicycles.

$400 for a helmet ….. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I’ll just paint my own thanks.

Not hating on Giro, I like them. Good company, but originality is apparently way out of my price range.

Not sure why you are complaining. You aren’t required to buy this.

“You aren’t required to buy this” Since when was it wrong for the consumer to critique a product, especially when said consumer’s point is valid. $400 is a lot for a helmet, especially on an already costly helmet!

I bought my Vanquish for $250, which I consider reasonable for a high-end helmet. Unfortunately, $325 is not a reasonable asking price for what amounts to a slightly better Synthe, and whilst I could stomach a $75 upcharge (assuming the paintwork is being hand-coated) on custom graphics on a $250 base helmet, it just makes an already overpriced helmet just that much more ridiculous!

How about more than three stock color choices? I’ll consider a fluo yellow. Otherwise, POC.
