Back at the last Enduro World Series race of 2017 in Finale Ligure, Frenchwoman Cécile Ravanel took the EWS Round 8 win on a, then prototype anodized Meta AM, nicknamed the ‘Black Star’. Well, now you too can get the same enduro bike as the Commençal Vallnord Enduro Team rider, dubbed the Meta AM v4.2 World Cup.

Commencal Meta AM v4.2 World Cup enduro bike

The new Meta AM v4.2 World Cup starts out as a standard top-end Meta AM enduro frame with its version 4.2 160mm of travel and suspension design, updated about a year and a half ago. But instead of paint, this World Cup edition gets an anodized finish, then gloss black logos. While that seems like a minor change, Commencal says that it does actually make the frameset lighter, and results in a much more durable finish, resisting chips & scratches riding aggressive terrain.

The limited edition frame will be available in a World Cup replica complete bike build for $4500€ with Fox Factory 36 Float fork & DPX2 air shock. Rounding out the build is a mixed SRAM Eagle X01 & GX drivetrain paired to a Truvativ Descendant Carbon crank & Guide RE brakes. Wheels are E13 TRS wrapped with Schwalbe tubeless rubber, and finished off with a KS Lev dropper.

Tech details

The bike shares all of the standard enduro-ready slack geo tech of the Meta AM v4.2. From its 160mm of linkage-driven single pivot travel, metric shocks, to Boost rear spacing, integrated downtube protection, internal routing & press fit BB92 bottom bracket.

The complete bike will be available in the same four size S-XL size run as the standard Meta AM v4.2. The Black Star is open now for pre-order direct from Commencal, with availability slated for late February 2018.

Frame only

If you are looking to build up your own, Commencal also has the same frame available on its own, already available now in sizes M-XL. Without the World Cup moniker, the black anodized Meta AM v4.2 can be bought on its own for $1600€. Then you can pick what and how much you want to add, via Commencal’s highly adjustable À La Carte online bike builder program.
