Whether its goggles, helmets, neck braces or body protectors, Leatt always puts safety as a high priority when designing their products. At Crankworx Whistler, Bikerumor got the invite to check out some of Leatt’s Twenty/Twenty helmets, body protection, and the company’s first line of women’s clothing.

The new women’s line debuts with a jacket, two jerseys, shorts and gloves. Leatt’s full Twenty/Twenty collection will be announced this fall, so in this article we’ll highlight a few key items we saw at Crankworx.

Leatt Twenty/Twenty DBX 1.0 mountain helmet:

Leatt emphasized how their technology is trickling down to lower price points, and the DBX 1.0 Mountain helmet is a great example. For a very reasonable price, the DBX 1.0 offers their 360 Turbine Technology and an adjustable, flexible visor.

Leatt’s 360 Turbine Technology uses small flexible pads on the inside of the helmet’s shell that can squirm around when your skull contacts them (see title image). They’re claimed to reduce 30% of head impact forces and 40% of rotational acceleration.

Flexible visors are something I think are brilliant. They not only won’t break in a crash, they can also help reduce the chance of twisting your neck if you hit the dirt head first. Leatt’s visor is not only flexible, but will break away from the helmet under a hard impact.

The 1.0 DBX’s polymer compound shell offers deep coverage for the back of your head, but keeps you cool with 14 vents and Leatt’s Maxiflow air channels.  The 2020 DBX 1.0 Mountain helmet retails for $69.99. S/M/L sizes are available, with weights starting at 320g. Color choices are Black, Forest, Ink and Mint.

DBX 1.0 Urban helmet:

For dirt jumpers or street riders, Leatt’s DBX 1.0 Urban helmet is a skate-style lid that provides full head coverage and includes their 360 Turbine Technology crash protection. It’s nice to see traditional skate lids getting updated with better impact protection! There are 11 vents in the polymer compound shell to provide ventilation.

The DBX 1.0 Urban comes in two sizes, and each come with three thicknesses of foam inserts to dial in the fit. MSRP is $49.99. Black, White, Forest and Brushed colors are available.

Airflex Stealth body protector:

As Leatt’s slimmer option for upper body protection, the Airflex Stealth body protector provides Level 1 protection for your spine, shoulders and elbows. It also covers your chest and upper spine with hard shell padding, all without looking too bulky under a jersey.

The protector’s Airflex spine, shoulder and elbow padding is made of an impact-reactive gel that’s thin and ventilated. The main body features AirMesh and MoistureCool fabrics to wick moisture and resist odor buildup. Leatt’s BraceOn shoulder straps make the protector neck brace friendly, and a full zipper ensures it’s easy to get this compression-fit piece on and off. The Airflex Stealth body protector costs $239.99. Sizes S-XL are available in a unisex fit.

Leatt doesn’t have any new goggle models coming for 2020, but as a brand that’s always concerned with safety they wanted to demonstrate how tough their lenses are. They had this lens to show us, which was shot at close range with a .22 caliber rifle!

Leatt Twenty/Twenty women’s clothing:

Leatt’s first ever ladies clothing line includes pieces with female-specific tailoring, but while some women’s gear tends towards shorter cuts, Leatt kept their women’s jerseys and shorts a little longer so they provide proper coverage.

DBX 2.0 jacket:

The women’s DBX 2.0 jacket is a lightweight, windproof layer that also remains breathable, partly thanks to its X-Flow mesh liner. This tailor-fit jacket is made from four-way stretch fabric that has a dirt, water and stain resistant coating.

One nifty feature is the DBX 2.0’s hood magnet. The jacket comes with one magnet sewn inside the hood, and another small adhesive magnet you can stick to your helmet. How nice it would be to have a hood that stays in place without you cinching it down so tight you look like Kenny from South Park! The DBX 2.0 jacket also stuffs into its chest pocket for storage. The DBX 2.0 Jacket comes in Mint, with sizes XS-XL available. MSRP is $119.99.

DBX 2.0 Long and Short sleeve jerseys:

Leatt’s Twenty/Twenty women’s line also includes a long and a short sleeved jersey. The DBX 2.0 Long jersey is a casual looking piece, made from a cotton-feel fabric with overlock stitched seams. It was designed to work with or without a neck brace and body armour.

The DBX 2.0 Short jersey is a t-shirt style top tailored specifically for women. Behind the casual look is a technical jersey that’s breathable, stretchy and lightweight. Like the Long jersey, it has overlock stitched seams and is body protection-friendly. The DBX 2.0 Long jersey costs $42.99, while the Short version sells for $32.99. Both are available in Mint or Marine colors, in sizes XS-XL.

DBX 2.0 Shorts:

Lightweight, comfortable and durable, the new DBX 2.0 shorts are made with reinforced stitching and a coating that resists dirt, water and stains. The shorts are pre-curved and feature a soft-touch waist lining, seamless seat panel and laser-cut vents to keep you cool. The DBX 2.0 shorts come in Mint or Marine, and retail at $74.99. Sizes range from XS-XL.

DBX 1.0 GripR gloves:

The women’s DBX 1.0 GripR gloves live up to their name with a pre-curved MicronGrip palm that actually gets grippier when it gets wet.  As Leatt’s first non-impact glove for women, they’ve given the 1.0 GripR’s a slim ladies specific cut with vented four-way stretch uppers. The gloves are durable, yet built light to offer precise handlebar control. The DBX 1.0 GripR gloves sell for $25.99. Mint and Marine colors are available in sizes XS-M.

Leatt’s complete 2020 collection will be available as of October.
