2016-Maxxis-rambler-gravel-road-bike-tire01

Just like the goods introduced at the Taipei Show earlier this year, about the only thing Maxxis hasn’t updated is their cyclocross tires.

The Rambler is Maxxis’ first gravel-specific tire, and thankfully it jumps right in with a proper 40mm width, 120tpi casing and tubeless ready design. Check the tread pattern and lots more tires for road and mountain bikes below…

Click to enlarge – the Rambler is on the left, and their Re-Fuse file tread tire grows to a 27.5×2.0 width, perhaps in anticipation of more bikes like the new Cannondale Slate.

2016-Maxxis-velocita-700x28-endurance-road-bike-tire01

On the paved roads, the Padrone TR (Tubeless Ready) gains a bigger 700×28 size, as does the Velocita tubular (on right). But things start getting really big on the mountain bike side…

2016-Maxxis-DD-double-down-aggressor-enduro-mountain-bike-tire02

The new Double Down casing is two layers of their EXO protection that runs bead to bead rather than the normal sidewall-only single layer EXO. Among several DH and freeride tires, it finds a home on the all-new Aggressor enduro tire.

At launch, the Aggressor is for US market only.

The Minion DHF gains DD (Double Down) protection on a new 27.5 x 2.5 size, and the rear-specific DHR gets 2.4 widths for both 27.5 and 29er sizes.

2016-Maxxis-shorty-and-highroller-II-mountain-bike-tire01

The popular Highroller II gains a 27.5 x 2.4, and the relatively new Shorty DH tire gets a massive 2.5″ width for all three wheel sizes.

We saw several of these at Taipei show, but now the new XC tires are in production. That includes the fast ramp knob design of the Race TT…

2016-Maxxis-Crossmark-II-mountain-bike-tire01

…the Crossmark II 27.5 x 2.25 (with EXO and without), and the new Minion Semislick, which is actually more of a rear-specific DH/enduro tire thanks to its 27.5 x 2.5 size.

There was already a 2.4 x 27.5, just not with TR. (Yes, pedantic).

Search bikerumor maxxis taipei, Alex, or hope the editors add the link in the article.

Finally a Larsen in 29′ … I think I will by a set along with a bright yellow permanent marker and write Larsen TT back on it 😉

Odd that the minion SS would only be in 2.5″, I would have thought it would be more appropriate in 2.3 or 2.4 considering it is a rear tyre.

I find it weird that a Crossmark II, which is presumably an “XC” tire, is not made in a 29er size. You know, the wheel size that the vast majority of XC racers/riders use.

Boy do I want a 29×2.25 Crossmark II… I loved that tired in 26×2.1 or whatever it was…

Ugh.. How about a non-“Double-Down” DHF 27.5 x 2.5 and a HR2 2.4 WITH “Double-Down”??!

Majority of people run the HR2 in the rear, where DD would be much welcomed, and DHF in a standard EXO casing up front to save some weight.. C’mon Maxxis!! So close…

Oooo I like the Rambler. Thank you for making it 40c.

And I agree on the Crossmark II, no understanding as to why it’s not available in a 29er size.
