Last year, it was the ladies who got the latest saddle tech from Ergon. This year, the women’s saddles add a Pro Carbon model to the top of the lineup, and the men’s collection catches up across the line. For men, Ergon reshaped the shell and foam molds to relieve pressure at key points on the male anatomy. Available for both road and mountain bikes, the new design adds higher tech padding than past saddles but keeps a performance shape.

The SR Men (S for “saddle”, R for “Road”) comes in various versions, topping out with the SR Pro Carbon with a one-piece carbon fiber rail assembly. Compared to the women’s model, it’s a bit narrower and slightly more rounded. They are mostly flat, allowing easy movement (especially good for mountain bikers looking to get off the back on descents).

The other key difference is that the channel extends back farther, but doesn’t have a full cutout. Instead, it ends in a vent, which might help keep you running cool down there. Under the cover, the padding is repositioned and adjusted to help keep your weight situated on your sit bones and other, stronger areas of your anatomy. Under the bones is their supportive Ortho-Cell foam on Comp and Pro models only. The Pro model adds Ortho-AirCell foam, too. There’s also a Sport model with standard foam. Toward the front of the wings is a softer foam to squish under your moving legs.

The road lineup retails from €100 to €190 between Comp, Pro and Pro Carbon. Weights from 195g to 280g, with the non-carbon ones using TiNox rails. The Pro and Pro carbon get carbon composite shells, the Comp gets a Nylon Composite shell.

The mountain bike versions use a similar shape, but add a more robust material along the back and sides. Weights range from 270g to 305g depending on width and model. Retail from €70 to €110.

The grips all carry over unchanged, save for this new addition to the winged GA family. The GA3 will be sold with the right side shortened to work with twist shifters from SRAM, Rohloff, Pinion, etc.
