Ere Research bases its product development on an array of simple tactile concepts, that all finish with the Latin suffix “-ere.” Sedere means “to sit,” Vincere means “to win,” etc. With rudimentary guiding principles, it’s designed foundational equipment like saddles and wheels for manufacturers around the world.
Similarly, its newest entry is a simple idea with a broad application. Tenere means “to grip,” and Ere’s new bar tape and grips help gravel riders do exactly that.
The Swiss brand’s Tenaci gravel grips have a deep scoring pattern plus knuckle heads to help riders hold on to drop bars in gnarly conditions. A sticky polyurethane (PU) bar tape up top hangs on with 3M adhesive.
Ere says the Tenaci leads with a smooth finish, thanks to its Smooth Line wrap’s elongated chamfer flange, and offers good grip in any weather thanks to the cover’s texture and shape.
The irregular grooves in the bar tape texture follow a pattern Ere took from dry riverbeds. So, the brand says, it sheds moisture similarly. The knuckle heads help riders bite down.
Laminar Sheet bar tape uses a fused PU and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam layer to render a soft feel, especially if you ride without gloves.
It all lays down on the Smooth Line wrap, specially shaped to limit any bumps or wrinkles. Ere says the wrap should fit every handlebar shape, including flared bars and extra-large sizes.
The whole Ere Tenaci kit includes bar plugs and finishing tape. You can install the handlebar grips yourself, with help from instructions and this handy video.
