e*Thirteen has added four new color options for its Plus 35 Stem for trail and enduro mountain biking. Originally launched in 2019 in the Stealth Black colorway only, the Plus 35 is e*Thirteen’s top of the line MTB Stem for 35mm handlebars. It sees more surface-level machining than their Base 35 Stem, coming in around 6.5% lighter for the equivalent length stem. Weight, and the two-tone polish and blasted anodized finish separate the two options, though the Plus 35 Stem retails at almost twice the price of the Base 35 at $99.95 USD. Regardless, if you want any of the following new color options, you’re going to have to dig deeper into those pockets because the Base 35 Stem is available in Stealth Black only.

The e*Thirteen Plus 35 Stem is 0° rise

Intergalactic, Bronze, Eggplant and Naranja are the new color options for the e*Thirteen Plus 35 Stem. Available in 40mm and 50mm reach options, the stem adds 40mm of stack height. It has a traditional 4-bolt face-plate design that gives it the versatility to clamp to any 35mm clamp riser bar that takes your fancy, unlike some of the super lightweight side-loading 2-bolt designs that can only take handlebars with a short rise.

The Plus 35 is forged from 7050-T7 aluminum alloy and subseuquently CNC machined to shave grams; it weighs a claimed 145g and 163g in the 40mm and 50mm options, respectively. All the bolt heads are T25, with rounded heads to reduce their capacity to cause injury.

The Plus 35 Stem face-plate is designed to run zero gap at the top bolts, with all bolts torqued to 7 Nm

On the steerer clamp portion, the bolts thread into the body of the stem at an angle of 132°. This design feature was incoorporated in a bid to improve clearance around the steerer tube for the rider’s knees; at this angle the bolt heads end up in a position that is tucked in around the sides of the stem. That is in contrast to stems that clamp the steerer with bolts that run at a 90° angle, where the bolt heads end up in a more rearward position, closer to the rider’s knees. Ultimately, you’re unlikely to have an issue with clearance between your knees and the steerer tube if you’re riding the appropriate frame size for your height. e*Thirteen say the clamps won’t loosen, no matter how hard you ride.
