Custom Festka road and gravel bikes are already dream bikes, but their latest collaboration with Czech abstract artists Ondrash & Kasparek for this ultra-limited-edition Scout gravel bike is next level. Adapting O&K’s vibrant water surface swirls from 2D canvas to the 3D surface of a bike is new to the pair, and results in some amazing-looking superbikes, at least for those with wallets up to the challenge…

The Ondrash & Kašpárek bikes are the latest in Festka’s long-running artist collaborations, first seen back in 2014 with Czech illustrator duo Tomski & Polanski. But this latest edition aims more for serializing the one-off bike designs, making art bikes more accessible – although not necessarily more affordable.

Many of Festka’s early art bikes were either just exhibition projects to grab attention for the bikemaker or efforts to satisfy the desires of their demanding elite clientele. But the new Ondrash&Kasparek design treatment is now almost a ‘regular’ finish option in Festka’s repertoire. Each design starts with a unique artwork created by the pair of artists.

Potential buyers can pick from a pre-existing color palette sample, and even highlight elements from the pair’s work that stands out. Then, Ondřej Konupčík and Radim Kašpárek will create the custom artwork and apply it to the blank canvas frame of your choice.

Festka’s newest carbon bike is their updated gravel Scout, their first 1x bike and built for more off-road adventure riding than anything else in their line-up.

Developed as a premium customizable carbon bikepacking bike made-in-Europe, the new Scout is still meant to be fast & light.

That means starting with a ~1kg frame, adjustable trail fork, completely internal cable routing, room for 700 x 42mm or 650 x 50mm tires, and mounting solutions unique to each buyer.

Already a hallmark of Festka’s more conventional custom design schemes, painted-to-match components like this ENVE stem really complete the full-custom look.

That playful graphic on the toptube is the seamless combination of collaborators Ondřej Konupčík’s Ondrash Tattoo ON+hand logo and Radim Kašpárek‘s jester cap and bells.

The colorful design wraps all around the frame and fork, ghosting out the simple silhouette of the Festka downtube logo.

In a move to limit the amount of abuse to your fine art by flying rocks, the lower half of the gravel bike reveals Festka’s unique CompoTech carbon tubing underneath.

Whether rational or not, Festka really likes to custom paint superlight carbon Selle Italia saddles, like this open-backed SP-01 Boost Tekno Superflow that weighed as little as 117g before painting.  I suspect if you ride this gravel bike regularly, you’d swap in a more comfortable perch to sit on, and one that won’t rub the paint off with your grit-covered shorts.

This ultralight rim brake Festka Scalatore X Ondrash & Kasparek edition road bike is quite a bit more at 29,390€ with Dura-Ace Di2 & Lightweight Meilenstein Obermayer wheels. That doesn’t include matching artwork for your home decor. Yes, for even more, Ondrash & Kašpárek will create a custom-sized canvas to hang on your wall, in the same style as your custom bike.

Available to buy now as a frameset or complete bike in ultra-limited numbers.
