Looking for more grip options? The new ESI Bliss Grips transition from a chunky outside width under your palm to a narrower diameter where your pointer finger and thumb reside. The idea is to put padding where you want it, but improve bar feel and control, too.

Look for these to hit stores in a couple months and retail for $32 per pair. Available in all of their Fit Grip color options, look for weight to be about 50-52g per pair.

On the road, they’re mixing their silicone foam grip technology with their bar tape, sliding an extra long grip onto the lower half of your bar, then wrapping the top half as normal. Retail will be $22 per section, so about $44 per bike. Each section is sold separately so you can mix and match the colors however you want. Look for these early next year.

makes you wonder whether you could have a section above the brake levers as well, maybe you would just need a small section of bar tape around the levers to keep it all tidy

That would be a great idea if you could get them all the way up to the top of the bar. Those things are already hard to get on a mtn handlebar.

I think if someone made bigger hoods you could get away with just a grip on the drops. A lot of aero handlebars aren’t wrapped on the tops already

@Nick Pretty sure their og tape was 2 sections of foam grips already.

I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while with long ODI grips – but I think tape is the only answer for the tops as the cables make getting the grips on impossible – and even if you could get them on it would be hard to get the housing right into the shifters as the grips would hold it tight.

I don’t get it. What’s wrong with bar tape? With these grips you’ll still need to wrap the bar. How is this better?

Perfect for track bars on the street to cut out some of the harsh vibrations. Swap out bars (with bar end TT brake installed) and wheels before going to the track; that’s what I do.

Back in ’82 we were doing the foam grips for the entire road bars. I think the product was called Grab-On

Sure, but that was back before integrated shifters and cables that ran under the bar tape.

If you follow the directions on how to install them they’re honestly about the easiest and fastest grips out there to put on a bar. Just have to use a generous amount of alcohol inside the grip and on the bar

This is true; lots of people have found that a generous amount of alcohol at the bar eases getting it on.

The poor durability of the grips is acceptable for their cheap price, but it’s hard to justify spending that much on disposable grips. I guess it’s only money

My mountain bike grips have held up as good or better than any other grips I’ve ever used. Have had the same pair for several years. A little White Rain hairspray, let set for 24 hours, they don’t budge.

Bontrager rubber push-on grips, cheapest in their line: no other grip comes close

Bring back the Morgan grips. They lasted forever and had decent ergonomic shape both above and below the brake lever.

it’s clear seeing the 3rd picture down, that they are making their product because they never learned how to tape a road bar properly…

Is it just me, or does it seem like running the new “Bliss” grips would be better to run in the opposite direction than the one depicted in the photo? Because your ring and pinky fingers are generally shorter and thus a smaller diameter grip for those two fingers would result in a more complete wrap of the fingers around the bars. What say ye?

Seriously, all these bars with gigantic fat sections for your pinky to wrap around are half way to useless if you’re actually wrapping your hands around the bar.
