The fully CNC’d alloy cranksets from Ignite have come a long way since we first saw prototypes in March this year. The design is far sleeker, and they’ve just introduced a narrower road and gravel bike version to join the MTB model first shown.
With rounded edges and some wild-looking new finish options, not to mention very light weights and a huge range of non-standard sizes, Ignite’s cranks are worth a look if you want something ultra-stiff and totally unique…
The new Inferno road cranks come in at a respectable 470g to 520g without spider. Or, 490g to 540g with all hardware (spindle, extractor bolt, etc.), and that’s for a size range running from 130mm all the way up to 190mm arms. Stock options are 160/165/170mm, but basically, they’ll machine any length you want…all out of US-sourced 7075 aluminum.
They have a 148mm Q-factor with rounded, gentle edges that should work well for riders whose heels angle inwards.
They’re sold for $429 without the spider and use the 3-bolt SRAM direct-mount chainring standard, which means plenty of options for both 1x and 2x setups from both SRAM and other brands.
Preorder now for delivery by end of year, and choose black, silver, purple, or custom colors in anodizing or Cerakote. All orders include a T-shirt, too, and they have a pretty sweet logo on it.
The spiders will retail for $89 and come in 104/110/130 BCD options. They say there’s a “lightweight” version of the crankarms coming in a few months, too, that’ll drop another ~50g off the total weight.
Compared to the blocky design we first saw, their Catalyst mountain bike cranks are far sleeker and rounded, making them look much more comfortable to ride. And, likely, a good bit lighter, too.
Like the road bikes, you can get them in a wide range of sizes, from 150mm to 180mm. Claimed weights are 490g to 520g depending on length, and they also use the 3-bolt SRAM DM chainring mount.
Two spindles are offered, one that works with standard, boost, and super boost spacing, and the other for fat bike spindles. Q-factors are 168mm and 194mm, respectively. Price is $399 for arms, spindle, and hardware. And a T-shirt.
