2012 magura RT8TT hydraulic brakes for time trial road bikes and triathlon bikes

The pieces are starting to come together fast and furious. The girl on the right seems awfully familiar, and this image comes courtesy of Magura’s Facebook page.

It’s said to be a photo shoot of the Magura RT8TT brakes. Break that down and you’ve got RT8, which is likely just a Road moniker for top of the line like their recently introduced MT8 mountain bike brakes with the Carbotecture composite body. TT is obviously Time Trial, and the rider’s position in the pic confirms that. Given the proximity of this tip with the spy shot of the Cervelo P5, well, we’re sure you can put the pieces together.

UPDATED: Another completely unrevealing photo after the break…

2012 Magura RT8TT hydraulic road brakes testing

This one is “one last test from CEO Thomas Raith himself and PM Stefan Pahl” posted on their Facebook page. We’re guessing this must be a normal RT8 (minus the TT) since it’s clearly on standard road bikes. If only we could use some magic Blade Runner photo zooming analysis…hurry up, future!

Next step: discs.

More clues the girl on the right has a “P5 Simply Faster” t-shirt on. I’m going to guess she’s the same girl in the S5 spy shot and that she’s at the P5 launch. So new P5 t-shirt, magura teaser shot. Do the math.

Nice, but I still can’t understand why they made the hydraulic rear brake, not the front one. Everyone knows that blocking the front wheel while braking can be lethal while locking the rear one is n 99% cases uncomfortable at most.

@mkrs I said this in the P5 section but perhaps Cervelo didn’t have permission to show the new hydraulic brakes so they’re just showing some less exciting gear on the bike for now.

Well, that’s a good point. Let’s hope they didn’t stop at that point and produced something even more exciting.

No since getting in a bunch now, Iam sure by the time we see the final system it will look like nothing they have been showing. The disc brake deal on a road bike is going to be a big deal across the board, so why would anyone give up any info at this point in the direction they are heading.Theirs no dought this will change the standard for road bikes as we know them. All for the good!
