Elite mountain bike racing is set to make a comeback in Durango, Colorado this fall. More than just elite racing though, the all-new Durango Derby will also feature a “serious-ly fun” 2-person or 4-person team category to make the event a blast for just about anyone.

The format is unique with a rally-style day filled with four timed stages. In between those timed stages are three untimed transfer stages. All together, you’re looking at 50 miles on the day (broken down into 36 miles of racing, and 12 miles of transfers). The four stage maps are currently live on the Durango Derby website, but you’re looking at roughly 5,627′ of elevation just in the race stages alone. Those who are feeling strong can choose to ride all of it solo, or ther team options will allow riders to divide and conquer.

For the elite racing, expect to see pros like Payson McElveen, Sarah Sturm, Stephan Davoust, Ellen Campbell, Howard Grotts, Todd Wells, and more.

The race is set to take place Saturday, September 23rd 2023, with registration opening up April 3rd at 9am. For more information, check out the link below.
