As ENVE points out, road riding has evolved. While the hard core road racing set is still there, we’ve seen a rise in bikes designed to run wider tires with more capable frames, and cover ground somewhere in between pure road and gravel. The popular nomenclature for this category is All Road, which is where the AR in the name of ENVE’s newest bar comes from.

The SES bit is of course in reference to the Smart ENVE System, or the fact that the bars are aerodynamically optimized using both CFD and the wind tunnel to provide real-world benefits. In this case though, the aero shaping has also been used to tune the damping and compliance of the bar since these will likely be found on rough surfaces as much as smooth pavement.

ENVE SES AR handlebar routing

If you want to really maximize the aero benefit, the cable can be routed internally through the bar with an opening at the stem for fully hidden cables. Not into internal routing? They can also be routed externally, with a channel to help hide the cables under the bar tape.

ENVE SES AR handlebar specs

As these are “All Road” bars, the shape reflects that with a 23.5mm compound-flared drop that sits between the SES Aero and G Series bars. Offered in five sizes, all bars have a 76mm reach and 127mm drop.

Available now, the bars are priced at $375

This–and the 3T Superghiaia–seem to be the only flared handlebars to understand that people may not want their brifters splayed out at the same flare angle as the drops. Nicely done.

Not directly related, but wondering when Enve is going to announce/release the integrated bars that were being teased a number of months back. Also makes me wonder if Enve plan to incorporate that port in the stem clamp area into the SES aero road bars?

I’ve been waiting for these ever since I got their G-series for my gravel bike. I love those bars, super comfortable. I have always thought if they made these narrower and with a little less flare I would put them on my road bike. Thanks enve!

Those are some nice looking bars. But no round section for mounting accessories seems like a major oversight for an all-road bar. Yeah, I know there are all kinds of stem mounts and you can use a gravel bar and blah blah blah. But this seems like a case of form over function

True I had the same thought some time after reading this. Wouldn’t work w my setup and not gonna spend the $$ for a new setup after spending $$$$ on bars…

I rotate my shifter inward on bar with no flare…
Seems like I’m using the wrong bar. Maybe I should just use bar with flare so shifter is rotating inward naturally.
