Nukeproof is one of few mountain bike brands that actually have complete bikes as well as framesets in stock at the moment. The highlight of this fresh new batch is the Limited Edition XO1 build of the Mega 297 and Giga 297. So, if you’ve had your eye on one of these mullet config long travel enduro bikes for a while, now’s your chance…

Ltd Ed Nukeproof Mega and Giga 297 X01

With folk like Elliot Heap, Sam Hill and Katy Winton ripping around on the Factory Yellow Mega and Giga, every time I see one in the wild, I can’t help but think… oh jeez, that rider must be really quick! Silly of me perhaps, but there’s no doubt this is a seriously pro-looking frameset. Nukeproof has some fresh stock in, and enough componentry in the warehouse to roll out a limited edition run of the MX Mega and Giga with an XO1 build kit.

In addition to that SRAM XO1 12 speed drivetrain, these Factory level bikes get a FOX 38 fork with the top-end GRIP2 damper (tested here), FOX X2 Factory Shock as well as SRAM Code RSC brakes and the Nukeproof Horizon V2 wheelset ridden by Elliot and Sam throughout the 2021 EWS season (long-term review here).

These Factory Yellow complete bikes are available now, and may already be at your local Nukeproof dealership. Both retail at $7799.99 USD and are available in sizes S-L.

Nukeproof isn’t letting the components shortage get them down too bad, deciding to also release framesets of the Mega and Giga (in 275, 297 and 290 configs), the Reactor trail bike, the Dissent 297 DH bike as well as the 20″, 24″ and 26″ frames of the Nukeproof Cub Scout kids’ bikes. So, your dream complete off-the-shelf bike isn’t available? Build it yourself, or just swap the parts off your old bike onto a freshie.

The Nukeproof Dissent DH Bike (as ridden by Elliot Heap at Hardline) has a fully customisable suspension platform, and we’re not talking about the RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate Rear Coil Shock. It has no fewer than four progression settings and three wheelbase length options to play around with – read more about the 4-position flip-chip here. Framesets for the 275, 297 and 290 configurations are available now, retailing at $2699.99 USD.

Now your little ripper can rock the same Factory Yellow colorway as the Pros, with the release of a limited edition run of Cub Scout framesets. The 20″, 24″ and 26″ frames all retail at $699.99 USD.

Well those frames went up in price quickly. They used to be a great value proposition, but now are more expensive than buying a lot of frames where the brand actually has a presence in the US.

I asked Nukeproof about this as I was this close to getting a Green 2021 frame from Chain Reaction, completed purchase then cancelled and refunded. They said they held out as long as possible and given the cost of freight and components due to COVID, they had to raise their prices. So now that extra $900 really stings….
