honey stinger caramel waffle stroopwafel for cyclists and athletes

Honey Stinger has just added Caramel to their waffle flavors, joining Gingersnap, Honey, Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate and Lemon flavors. It’s certified organic like the rest, and now their waffles are also certified Kosher. These are available now for $1.39 each.

Taking a cue from the success of their kids’ Sour Citrus flavor energy chews, there’s a new Grapefruit flavor chew coming in May. They’re USDA Certified Organic, gluten-free, dairy-free and provide 100 percent RDA of vitamin C.

Chomp down for more goodies, including the world’s first probiotic designed specifically for endurance athletes…

Kill Cliff Berry Legit recovery drink

Kill Cliff has just introduced a new Berry Legit flavor of its beverage. The product is quite popular among the Crossfit crowd, billing itself as a recovery drink. But it’s not the protein heavy recovery drink that helps rebuild muscle, it’s more like a healthier energy drink blending vitamins, minerals, green tea extract and more to replenish fluids and keep you going for the rest of the day. They’re sweetened with Stevia and use no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. If you’re looking for high protein, they have bars for that. The drinks do contain a small amount of enzymes, though, which can help your body better digest the protein you will want to take immediately following a workout.

Sound Probiotics Sport Formula probiotics for athletes and improved performance

Looking for a little more help digesting all those goodies? Sound Probiotics’ new Sport Formula combines pro- and prebiotics in a combination specifically for endurance athletes. They say it boosts immunity and overall health. That could mean fewer days off, less GI issues on the bike, and better use of all the nutrients you’re getting from the bars, gels, drinks and food used to fuel the ride.

They’re vegan friendly, don’t need refrigeration, are gluten free and non-genetically modified. Oh, and they’re made in the USA. Retail is $28.99 for a 30-day supply. Not sure about tuning up your gut health? Check our Nutrition Series article on the topic by Stacy Sims.

Unless there is some other meaning, that “Kill Cliff”name sounds like a they want to take down Cliff Bar, and aren’t shy about telling the world! I checked on their website, and the only reference to the meaning is something to the effect of “if we told you…”. It seems to be working for them, but they pitch themselves as a much needed nutritious alternative to Red Bull style energy drinks, so the hit on Cliff seems kind of out of place.

I have to ask if there’s really a significant difference between a carmel honey stinger, & a bog standard Stroopwafel, though.

I guess the price that is 5 times as high is at least a difference.

@groghunter – nope, no difference I can tell other than size and price. I always buy bags of Mini Stroopwafels from Trader Joes for $2.99 and carry a dozen of them in a ziploc when I ride. Bite size pieces are easy to handle, no wrapper to deal with, and much cheaper. #protip

hey TheKaiser… pretty sure you’re thinking of a brand named CLIF Bar. I don’t think the ‘energy drink’ brand is attacking them – if they were, they’d probably want to get the name right.

Sound Probiotics are legit! They kept my gut health in check during a 6 week bout of gnarly IV antibiotics. I feel healthier overall when I’m taking them so I’ve been hooked ever since! Highly recommended.
