Usually when we visit Osprey at tradeshows, they have a few new exciting things to show us. But this year it was more like almost everything had something new to focus on with refresh of their most popular packs and bags. The overarching theme seems to be increased comfort, better fit, and more options for carrying the things you’ll need for your ride.
Raptor/Raven
Long standing as their premium hydration pack, the Raptor (men) and Raven (women) each receive notable improvements. Available in 10 or 14 liter packs, each has a 2.5L Hydraulics LT reservoir – though still no quick connect hose fitting.
Most of the updates pertain to the fit which includes their new “winged” harness which provides more support at the upper shoulder area for more stability and body hugging comfort. An Airscape molded back panel with mesh suspension is designed to keep your back cool, and revised buckles including a magnetic sternum strap attachment keep things in place. All models still include their tool roll with dedicated storage pouch, and LidLock helmet storage, while the 14L versions add the ability to carry a full face helmet as well.
Both the Raptor and Raven see the same improvements, with both selling for $140 for the 10L and $150 for the 14L.
Siskin/Salida
Moving on to the Siskin/Salida, again in men’s/women’s, these packs are both available in an 8 and 12L variety, with the 12L gaining hip pockets and a winged waist belt. Here you’ll notice ridge foam rolled around the harness for increased comfort where it makes contact with your shoulders as well as an Airscape back panel. Slightly smaller than the Raptor/Raven, the packs still offer a 2.5L Hydraulics reservoir and many of the same storage options including LidLock helmet management.
The Siskin and Salida are priced at $100 for the 8L and $110 for the 12L.
Syncro/Sylva
For hotter and or more humid climates, the Syncro/Sylva keep things cool with their AirSpeed back panel with a tensioned “trampoline style” mesh back. Osprey calls this their highest level of ventilation, while airy straps and the lack of wings (except on the Syncro 20) also help to keep things cool. Featuring a rain cover, Hydraulics LT 2.5L reservoir, and most of the storage bells and whistles, the Syncro is offered in 5, 12, and 20L versions, while the women’s Sylva is available in 5 or 12L. Pricing is set at $120/$130/$150.
Katari/Kitsuma
For even more minimal packing, the Katari and Kitsuma models offer 1.5, 3, or 7L storage options which still include a 2.5L reservoir with the exception of the 1.5 which uses a 1.5L reservoir as well. You’ll still find their new rolled, soft edge harness for comfort, and these packs will allow you to carry just the essentials. Pricing is set at $55/$65/$75.
TLD Siskin/Seral
Finally, for the shredder in your life there is the latest collaboration with Troy Lee Designs. Available in either the Siskin 8 hydration pack, or Seral lumbar pack with hydration reservoir, these bags offer the same features as their namesake models, just with the graphics handled by TLD. Both include a small premium over the regular price with the TLD Seral priced at $95 and the TLD Siskin priced at $115.
