It’s never too early to develop an appreciation for carbon fiber. I think I heard that somewhere… no? Well, if it’s time to buy your little one a new bike and they’re ready for a serious upgrade, Patrol has tow new models made from what else? Carbon fiber.
Using a full carbon frame construction, the new C020 and C024 kid’s bikes have high end features like internal cable routing, a tapered head tube, clearance for big tires, and even a bottle cage mount inside the front triangle. There’s no word on the official weight of either bike, only that they’re meant to be light weight and durable to hold up to real world abuse.
Offered in two wheel sizes, the C020 uses 20″ wheels while the C024 rolls on 24″. Both of those wheels are wrapped in 2.6″ wide Vee Crown Gem rubber for confident traction on any surface.
Each bike is built to take a kid’s specific suspension fork in 100mm travel for 20″ wheels and 120mm travel for 24″. The base model bikes will include an RST Spex 20 or Snyper 24 fork, but there will also be a premium model of each equipped with the Manitou Machete J-Unit suspension fork.
Neither build appears to use the Manitou J-Unit cockpit, but Patrol does spec their own child-specific bar, stem, and grips.
Patrol C020 & C020 S
Built with hydraulic disc brakes on both models, the C020 runs a 1 x 9 drivetrain with a Samox crank. The C020 S also runs a Samox crank, but jumps to a 1 x 10 drivetrain with the addition of the Manitou Machete J-Unit fork. Prices start at $1,099 for the C020 and bump up to $1,349 for the C020 S.
Patrol C024 & C024S
It’s a similar story for the C024, just with different wheel sizes. Prices start at $1,249 for the C024 and top out at $1,499 for the C024 S.
