Pivot Cycles have reintroduced the steel frame Point dirt jump bike for 2021, with adjustable rear dropouts and a complete geometry refresh. Don’t worry, there is no actual Pivot Point. It’s still a hardtail running a 26″ wheelset. Let’s take a closer look at this reinvention of a modern classic ridden to fame by Aaron Chase, Elliot Jackson and Kyle Strait.
2021 Pivot Point DJ Bike
The 2021 Pivot Point dirt jump bike gets a TIG-welded double-butted 4130 chromoly steel frame requiring just one gusset at the headtube-downtube interface. The Point gets a geometry refresh for this model year. Still rolling on 26″ wheels, we see a slightly steeper head tube angle of 68.5° and a steeper seat tube angle of 72°.
This steel dirt jump bike is designed around a 100mm fork. It has a reach of 425.8mm, meant to work with a 35mm stem. It gets a stout, tapered head tube measuring up at 110mm.
Gone are the DMR SwopOut system dropouts seen on its predecessor, replaced by adjustable ones that allow the rider to tune chainstay length from 385mm to 400mm. As the bike is only available in one size, this is likely a feature that most riders will make use of. Riders can also choose between running a rear derailleur or opting to set the Pivot Point up as a single speed.

That matters with a bike like this. Our goal was to build a bike that would perform well for everyone, pros and everyday riders alike, and to ensure it performs at a very high level, but is also tough and versatile enough to meet all their needs.”
Pricing & Availability
The 2021 Pivot Point will be available in Pivot’s new Mojave colorway and can be purchased as either a frame only, priced at $599, or a complete build priced at $1599.
That cash gets you a Manitou Circus Expert 34 100mm travel fork, ALEX FR30 double-wall rims laced to Novatec S-Team hubs, a SRAM Level 2-piston brake on the rear and a Promax Cable Disc brake on the front. The bike is finished off with a Spank cockpit and Maxxis Holy Roller 2.2″ tires.
