PRESS RELEASE

Park City, UT – POC is proud to introduce a host of new innovations and updates for its Autumn 2019 and 2020 cycling collections, including a world-first in eyewear, the Solar Switch, and the ‘Ultimate’ in female cycling bibs, which sets a new benchmark in performance and function.

· The Solar Switch represents a world-first for eyewear and uses an electrochromic LCD lens, which can instantly change tint based on light conditions and which is powered solely by the sun.

· The W’s Ultimate VPDs bib shorts – set a new benchmark for what female riders should consider in cycling performance and function, featuring a brand new and highly innovative suspender design, the bibs will confine poor performance and awkward, rushed nature breaks to the history books.

· A brand new child-specific range of POCito cycling products, including the brand new helmet, the Omne POCito SPIN, children specific back, knee and elbow protection and new apparel.

· Transit – developed specifically to make more of those everyday moments, the Transit collection supports a state of mind, there to enhance and stimulate the senses, inspire travel and enhance the downtime.

· The brand new Ultra Collection – highly engineered and precise apparel for adventures off the beaten path, which have fused the best of POC’s off and on-road experience and insight to develop a collection that will open up your two-wheeled world.

POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, commenting on the Solar Switch, said “I am extremely proud to present the Solar Switch. Our safety mission drives our innovation and product development and the Solar Switch is a clear embodiment of our approach. To be able to develop a world-first pair of sunglasses, that can change between lens tints automatically and instantaneously, powered solely by the sun, and all wrapped in the lightweight performance Aspire frame, is truly inspiring.”

Commenting on the W’s Ultimate Bib shorts, Jonas Sjögren, continued – “We are proud of our Swedish heritage and values, especially the belief in equality across all spheres of life. For far too long, however, we have witnessed the ridiculousness of female cyclists having to venture further from the roadside just to take a nature break, or opt for bib shorts that represent a performance compromise. We were fed up with this imbalance, female riders need bibs that perform for racing, have aero advantages, class leading comfort, as well as the functionality and speed on nature stops – so we decided to make them, the ‘ultimate’ VPDs bib short.”

Product detail and descriptions

Solar Switch – Solar powered LCD Sunglasses
The Aspire Solar Switch introduces a world-first to vision with a whole new approach to optical performance thanks to the use of an electrochromic LCD lens, which allows the sunglasses to instantly, and automatically, change tint. The Solar-Switch lens, which will provide a darker tint in sunnier conditions and instantly become lighter in shadow or cloud conditions, can significantly improve vision, safety and performance in changing weather, light conditions or environments, such as descending through mountain tunnels. The Solar-Switch changes tints (between levels 3-4) instantaneously and automatically ensuring a rider never needs to think about what or how they see. Uniquely it has been developed to be powered only by the sun’s solar power, needing no battery or charging so it will always be there, sustainable and reliable.

W’s Ultimate VPDs bib shorts – the benchmark for Women’s bib shorts
Performance bibs for women – the W’s Ultimate VPDs bib shorts take innovation and performance to a new level. Women’s bib shorts have often featured good design, comfort or fit, but they have never combined unique silicone chamois technology forged on aerodynamically advanced compression fabrics, all combined seamlessly together with a new unique design that provides female riders with the ultimate speed, flexibility and comfort for essential mid-ride/race toilet breaks. The brand new and advanced strap design features high levels of material development and design, creating a bib with compression on the bike and flexibility when needed. Created by, and with, female riders the design has been rigorously tested, including precise leg length, suspender design, seem layout, compression, aerodynamics, chamois design and functionality during stops and racing so female riders will never need to take their jersey off for a nature stop ever again.

POCito – Protection for children
POCito is a collection to protect and support younger riders as they develop their cycling skills. The brand new Omne POCito SPIN shares the same materials and details as the adult Omne, notably a 360° fit system for a precise fit, a child optimized EPS liner, proactive protection with highly visible fluorescent colors which attract attention, and reflective detailing. It also includes our patent-pending silicone pad technology SPIN (Shearing Pad INside). A reversible and highly visible vest is also included which features Primaloft Black ECO insulation which has perfect balance warmth to weight —helping keep the vest light and comfortable for children—and is constructed from 80% post-consumer recycled polyester fiber. The POCito collection is rounded off with the award-winning back protector which can house a Trax tracker and specifically designed knee and elbow protectors.

Transit – make more of those everyday moments
The Transit collection has been developed to take your senses to new places, especially during those relaxed moments of the day, the downtime between training sessions or the long adventures to far-flung places. Created to make more of those everyday moments, Transit supports a state of mind, there to enhance and stimulate the senses regardless of the journey and final destination. Transit features a variety of jackets, vests, tops, jerseys and tees, all made with advanced materials and technology. The insulated and merino garments are specifically designed for a precise fit with enhanced freedom of movement, which will heighten those everyday moments on and off the bike.

The Ultra Collection – forge a new path
Highly engineered for adventures off the beaten path, and created with the best of POC’s off- and on-road apparel experience, Ultra is a precise collection of jerseys and shorts. The collection has been developed for everything from local gravel rides, multi-day adventures to endurance rides. Constructed from lightweight and durable fabrics, which provide exceptional freedom of movement, functionality has been at the center of the development process with shape, storage, weather protection, weight and durability all featuring prominently across the collection.

So how does this Solar Switch differs from photochromic lenses? Or the only difference is the speed of transition? And I wonder how dark will it go as that’s my issue with photochromic as it seems to never get dark enough on super bright sunlight
