SCOR MTB, a skunkworks division of BMC, has released two children’s mountain bikes; the 0020 with 20″ wheels, and the 0024 with 24″ wheels. Both frames are fabricated from a lightweight double-butted aluminum tubeset, and are fully rigid, with the only trail chatter damping coming from the high-volume Kenda Booster 2.4” tires. The 20″ caters to 5-8 year-olds (or riders 110-135 cm tall), while the 24″ caters to 6-11 year-olds, or riders 120-145 cm tall.
SCOR Kids’ Bikes
Joining the SCOR 4060 and 4060 Z high-end full suspension mountain bikes for adults are two fully rigid aluminum mountain bikes for children.
The 0020 and 0024 get small diameter bars and grips, short-reach brake levers, a saddle designed for smaller bottoms and short cranks with a narrow q-factor, making for bikes that should actually be ride-able for the smaller human. In a previous life, I coached mountain biking for groups of small children, and I can tell you for sure it was not fun for me or them when they had trouble reaching their brake levers!
Both bikes are available in a purple or mint powder coated finish, but can be customized using the Slicy MySublimistick App at check out.
The SCOR 0020 with 20″ wheels has a reach of 305mm and a stand over height of 490mm. The bar width is 650mm, and the crank arms are 127mm long. This bike is designed for children around 110-135 cm tall.
The SCOR 0024 with 24″ wheels has a reach of 350mm and a stand over of 580mm. The bar width is 650mm and the crank arms are 135mm long. This bike is designed for children around 120-145 cm tall.
