The Gravelero is Silca’s newest mini-pump, adapting the proven precision portable pump tech of their Tattico into a smoother shell that won’t fill up with mud. Plus, thanks to a longer stroke, the new Gravelero boasts 35% more air volume to pump bigger gravel & mountain bike tires up faster.

Silca’s machined Tattico is a great pump. Both Steve & I use the one with a Bluetooth pressure sensor in its end. And while the built-in electronic tire pressure gauge is nice, it’s not totally necessary when you can just pinch the tire to see if there’s enough air in it. What is great is that the long stroke makes it quick to pump, the long hose that comes out of the end isolates hand pump motion from your fragile valve, and the reversible Presta/Schrader head with a locking lever is easy to use & secure.

The Silca portable pumps are simply machined to exacting tolerances with smooth action that just feels super precise as you fix a roadside flat.

And all of those functional elements are inside this new aluminum Gravelero, too.

So what’s new? Silca simplified the outer shape of the Gravelero pump, ditching the grippy machined knurling of the Tattico, which although it made holding it very secure, also meant the pump was always full of dirt if you had it strapped to your frame. That also means this one is 16% lighter at a claimed 139g.

At the same time, it looks like the new Gravelero pump gets a bit larger diameter through its straight body. Combine that with a claimed longer stroke and even improved internal sealing, and you get 35% more air out each time you pump. That means faster inflation of gravel & mountain bike tires, while dropping max pressure to 80psi – still plenty for most modern tubeless road tires too.

The new Gravelero mini-pump is still 9.5″ long overall (243mm), so it’s not exceptionally ‘mini’, but it is still portable. It’ll fit in a jersey pocket, but it’s gonna stick out a bit, or simply tuck it under a water bottle cage with the included mounting bracket.

Silca Gravelero pump – Pricing & availability

The Silca Gravelero mini pump sells for $75 / 90€ (with VAT) including the plastic mount, and is available now direct from Silca. That’s just five bucks more than the regular old Tattico, and forty-five bucks cheaper than the BLE version. They also are now shipping direct to Europeans from inside the EU for much faster & smoother delivery.

…how we think the Silca Gravelero (l) will stack up next to the Tattico (r)

We’re curious to get ahold of one of the new Gravelero pumps to see how it really compares against the Tattico size-wise and in how fast it will pump up a higher volume gravel tire while crouched in the mud in the middle of nowhere. Keep your eyes peeled and we’ll share our real impressions soon.

Just $75? I’ll wait for the $475 special limited edition Gravelero that comes in a velvet pouch ensconsed in a lacquered teak case with a certificate of authenticity signed (and sealed with a kiss) by Josh Poertner himself.

That rubber retention strap looks like the first bit to break, forcing you to buy a new mounting bracket (assuming they maintain production). For that reason, I like the Velcro strap on my Lezyne pump holder.

If it’s like the original, the rubber strap is replaceable and Silca sent me a free one when it snapped. Velcro is a better choice, I agree but like the Boa bags I suspect Josh steers away from it due to snagging concerns.

I had the original strap break but the mount grips so well, I didn’t replace it. I also dremeled off the little nub for a cleaner look.

When the strap broke on my Tattico bracket, I sent Silca an email, and they sent me a new bracket for free – even though the bracket holds the pump securely even without the strap. Also, if you have a Lezyne pump, the original Tattico fits it just fine; not sure about the Gravelero.

Can I get my money back or trade the two Tattico pumps that I just bought for the newer one? BTW The Tattico is very good and you could knock someone out with it.

super curious to see how it compares to the Lezyne Drive pumps, which look pretty much, well, ok, exactly the same.

Why not just buy the same thing and start your own pump company?
