Introduced to the world last Interbike, Fox’s replacement for their long running Flux helmet is finally here. Stepping in is the all new Metah which manages to stand out in a sea of helmets with some distinct looks, but also with just enough safety tech built in. To go along with the helmet, Fox is now selling their Attack Pro system which looks like it could be a great option for long days in the saddle on trail, enduro, or any other type of mountain bike…

Following the trend of helmets with deeper all mountain coverage and increased safety, the Metah makes use of “Varizorb” multi-density foam which looks very similar in concept to the Kali Conehead technology. Fit is adjusted with a single handed dial in the rear and the y-straps are fixed for simplicity and lighter weight. Built with 10 large vents, the visor is fixed in position which could be a love/hate feature. Offered in two sizes (S/M and L/XL), the helmet is available in all of the colors above for $149.95 with the exception of the very first black/white/red colorway which will be a special option for the fall.

To make it a complete kit, Fox is offering their Attack Pro Trail System which borrows the Flex Air fabric from their DH line and includes the Evolution Pro Bib Liner. All sold separately, the Attack 3/4 sleeve jersey uses 4 way stretch woven fabric for the front and sleeves along with mesh for breathability, and adds a zipper stash pocket with eyeglass wipe at the hem for $89.95.

The $169.95 outer short uses a welded construction with 4-way stretch fabric and includes low profile zipper pockets and is designed to integrate with the Evolution Pro Bib Liner. This $149.95 liner uses their EVO chamois, offers 3 rear pockets, and a fly flap to make bathroom breaks a bit easier and is built from “premium Italian polyester stretch fabric.” All pieces are available now.

With minor adjustments to padding positions, the Metah is a perfect fit for my skull shape. There is no contact with eyeglasses or ears from either crown or straps. The bill is functional for shade and air flow. The downsides of this helmet, minor wind noise, total weight, and forward weight bias. My L/XL weighs 440grams, but because fit & function are so good it is well worth a tradeoff. The bit of heft gives it a solid, protective feeling.

I can’t get past the looks of the helmet. I know, I’m a shallow superficial d-bag but cannot do it.

Have worn attack clothing over the years and really like it.

Love the look but man Fox welded seems fall apart very quickly. I’ve got two pairs of the $130+US Attack Pro shorts that were worn less than half a dozen times before failure.
