The day before the show opened, OneUp announced one of their more surprising products – a new dropper post. All of the details are already there through that link, but the short story is that it’s available in 150 or 170mm, claims to have the shortest overall effective seat post insertion length (so it won’t hit frame parts and you can slam it for short riders), it includes a solid remote with super light lever action, and it’s also super affordable at $248.

One of the features that really caught my attention though was the ability to easily change the amount of travel. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ridden a bike and thought “if only this dropper post was 3 or 5mm lower at the maximum height, I’d have the perfect saddle height.” Well now with the ability to shim the OneUp dropper to reduce travel by up to 50mm, that is now a reality.

Jon shows us just how easy the process is – no tools (unless you want to cut down the shim) and just a few minutes, if that. If you install the shim as is, it will reduce the travel by 50mm. If you want to reduce the travel less, you’ll need to cut the shim down to whatever size you want. Need to drop the post by as little as 2.5mm? It can be done. The 170mm dropper can be shimmed down to 120mm, while the 150mm dropper can be shimmed down to 100mm. Droppers do not include shims, but additional shims will be available in packs of 3 for $10.

But that wasn’t the only news OneUp had at their booth – their EDC tool kit is getting some awesome improvements as well.

To help you fix those pesky flats, OneUp will have a new Tubeless Jabber that threads into the existing CO2 threads on your EDC Multi tool carrier. The Jabber will include 15 plugs but will be compatible with other “bacon strips” out there already. The Jabber will fit inside the longer EDC hand pump, but not in the shorter pump or steerer mount.

Inside the storage container, you can also stash the new EDC Chain Pliers. The original chain breaker on the EDC tool was a novel attempt, but it didn’t work all that well and it didn’t work at all on SRAM Eagle chains. The new pliers are insanely light (11g!), and will easily work with all chain links.

Both the Jabber and the pliers are still a bit out, so expect official pricing once they launch.

Last but not least, colors! OneUp is adding four new colors for their Comp pedals and chainguides to help you style out your ride.
