Speedvagen OG1 stock size road bike now available

Speedvagen, much like its premium brand Vanilla Cycles, has inched into long lead times for its custom bikes. The solution was launching a stock sizing program, which has been in the works for more than a year and is finally available. The Speedvagen OG1 is now shipping in Olive and Lavender colors, with frames that still have a lot of the little details that make them special…

I really want one, but the saddle height range is too restrictive. I would have to buy a frame 2 sizes larger than usual. I might write and double check I’ve understood the geometry correctly…

Ironic that a builder who started his business on the notion that people deserve custom bikes made-to-measure would then start a stock bike program that limits the customer’s fit options even more than your standard frame. Not only does a buyer have to worry about what standard measurements to fit, but now a narrow range of seat height and stem length as well.

It’s all part of the cycle…small company is successful, tries to reach more consumers, continues to grow, is eventually part of “the industry” and is slandered left and right like Trek and Spesh. Angry hipsters desperate to find the next small indyfab shop support some dude building 2 bikes every 5 years out of his garage until he starts to find success. Rinse, wash, repeat.
