News of the discontinuation of the Gore-tex ShakeDry fabric got you down? Don’t worry, you can still find it on jackets like the 7Mesh Oro ShakeDry… for now.

Sitting between Vancouver, and the Whistler Mountains in Canada sits the town of Squamish, the home to 7Mesh Cycling Apparel. I know we just covered their Stash System Lineup a few days ago, but the new men’s “SHAKEDRY” Oro Jacket also looks worthy of coverage.

7Mesh thinks the Oro Jacket is the ultimate wet weather, road bike jacket, saying that it “delivers class-leading breathability and absolute weather protection in a featherweight form factor that weighs less than an energy bar”. You can wear it all through the ride, or stow it in a jersey pocket… either way it’s ready to “protect against whatever challenges lay ahead”.

The Oro jacket is said to weigh in at a scant 93 grams. It is designed to keep you dry and warm during “downpours, deluges, and summit descents”.

7Mesh says the Oro is a four-season outer layer that pairs well with a long sleeve jersey, making it a pretty versatile piece of kit.

Waterproof

As mentioned above, the Oro is featherlight, waterproof, and is said to breathe like a second skin. 7Mesh used Gore-Tex Active with ShakeDry to construct the Oro. It is backed by the Gore-Tex “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry” standard.

Windproof

The Oro is said to be built for those fast descents, cold early starts, and late finishes. The Gore-Tex Active blocks the wind to help keep your temperature balanced in turn keeping you comfy.

Skin Fit

Constructed with a blend of performance fabrics, and highly articulated patterns that create a close fit that helps the Oro Jacket feel like a second skin. 7Mesh thinks that Skin Fit apparel improves aerodynamics, moisture management, and thermal efficiency.

I just hope that whatever comes along to replace Shakedry is available in colours. That’s the only reason I haven’t bought one.

Is this a new revision? It looks like the same Oro they have always had.

Make sure you size up! Sizing seems the same as other 7mesh tops, but before any stretch is taken into account.
